I'm talking about the bigger picture of Trump's picks. From day one he picked people that repeated stabbed him in the back, had issues, where incompetent or idiotic, and so forth.

But I guess you think all of his picks were above reproached, great picks, represented Trump well, and served the US well? Prebius, Bolton, Barr, Sessions... shall I go on ?

Problem is, Queens-born Trump is the ultimate sucker for the gold-plated resumé/C.V.

It seems as if this predilection had chronically lead to the picking of rotten apples.

Most people learn from their mistakes of picking bad people.

Trump has not.

Therefore, he has not earned my support in the primary.

The only reason Trump was elected in 2016 was that the democRATS didn’t cheat hard enough. They perfected their system in 2020 and further refined it in 2022.

Even if Trump never posted a “mean tweet”, always picked the best people for his staff, and did everything right (according to standards set by the army of Never-Trumper keyboard warriors), Joe Biden would still be the resident today.

Trump did not lose in 2020. Anyone who says he lost is either a democRAT, an assistant democRAT (aka RINO), or someone who has been brainwashed by CNN, MSLSD, and their ilk, in other words, a fellow traveler or a useful idiot.

Bravo, Bravo, so well said and so true what you say. I love Trump, I am exceedingly loyal to him, and nothing, and I mean nothing, will make me think otherwise. One of the best Presidents this Country has ever had. We were so lucky to have him in office, and I want him back in the WH yesterday if that were possible.

I have fought with many here on FR in defense of Trump, and will continue to do so. It’s nice to have allies, and it was inspiring to read what you have said here. Would that more on FR would openly defend Donald J. Trump’s estate. May he win the next election in 2024 by a landslide.

Too bad Flynn and Bannon couldn’t have been there for the full four years. Would have saved Trump from a lot of BS. Had the two best press secretaries ever. Maybe they should have had a management position. Even Mick Mulvaney was good at the start. Closed down Wasserman Schultz’ slush fund dept, even locking them out of the bldg. Navarro was another good one.

I can only imagine the WH office gossip and backstabbing that goes on. I don’t think any of them were allowed to get anything done. The real underlying problem is that fedgov has just gotten too big to tame. It’s a self running and self serving machine and 98% dems and commies.

Have to keep in mind Graham and McConnell among others would approve of many people because Trump was under meh Russia investigation.

Indeed. My point is, I am sick of this search for perfection, especially ideological perfection, but including personal perfection.

I admit that in the case of elected officials, I have a wider latitude for for personal perfection, because as a Conservative, I accept that people are imperfect, and that imperfection is baked into us. I believe only childish Leftists believe personal perfection is possible, but all Leftists believe in the use of personal imperfection as a political cudgel, to be employed at all times for all behaviors, imperfect or not. Meaning, if there is no imperfection, they will manufacture them to use as weapons.

From an ideological perspective, I believe everyone has an issue or issues that are dear to them. We all do. For example, I did not like Trump’s apparent disinterest in limiting spending. I viewed that as a flaw. But his grasp of the dangers of unlimited open borders and unnecessary militry entanglements were more important to me, so I had to make choices.

I believe we as Conservatives should allow for this kind of risk-benefit assessment, which we often don’t. I have my hard line on various issues, but I don’t have a hard line on ALL issues.

The 20th Century turned on the jewel of World War II.

Churchill was a flawed man in many respects, but at the time, he was the right man for the right job, and nobody stepped into that terrible role that he had to in the same critical way he did.

Incidentally, I view Admiral William F. Halsey in much the same light. At the beginning of the war, he was just what we needed. We needed someone who wanted to fight. He was the right man for the right job. But I believe the war wore on him, and by October 1944, in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, he did not possess the acumen at that time to do his job the way it should have been done, both in the battle, and in the aftermath during Typhoon Cobra.

But his mistakes and imperfections later did not disqualify his earlier work.

Furthermore, I believe that the imperfections in people often make them who they are, and not always in a bad way, depending on the scope of that imperfection.

And I feel the same way about Donald Trump as a President.
