Casey DeSantis Becomes Politico’s Target
Victory Girls ^ | 20 May 2023 | Kim Hirsch

The late Rush Limbaugh would often say of the media: They tell you whom they fear. In light of this Limbaugh truism, the media must fear the rise of Gov. Ron DeSantis after Friday’s hit piece on his wife, Casey DeSantis, in Politico.

Rumors have been flying that Ron DeSantis will declare his candidacy for president on Thursday. So while hardcore Trump supporters will guffaw and point to recent polls showing their man far ahead of the Florida governor, they forget that a poll is merely a snapshot in time. Plus, the primaries haven’t begun, it’s over a year until the party conventions, and DeSantis hasn’t yet declared, either.

But the media also know that Ron DeSantis is a popular governor, having won his re-election with over 59% of the votes. They also know of his impressive record of accomplishment in Florida. Plus, they are aware that he could attract not only rank-and-file Republicans, but also independents for whom Donald Trump is a turn-off.

So Politico attempted a flank attack on Ron DeSantis by writing a hit piece on his wife.

Casey DeSantis is a 42-year-old mother of three, a former Florida TV personality, and a breast cancer survivor. She is also lovely in appearance and handles herself well in public. Shortly before the gubernatorial election in November, 2022, Casey released an ad touting her husband which was well-received by many on social media.

Normally the media would be gushing all over such a woman. She’s a cancer survivor! She’s a mom! What’s not to love?

Ah, but the “D” in Casey’s name stands for DeSantis and not Democrat. So Politico interviewed Democrat strategists and alleged former staffers who were more than happy to dish dirt.

Huh. I’m so old, I can remember a Godfather-obsessed Senator Barack Obama cautioning against attacks against “civilians:”....

Mother of 3 but she’s got time to travel the world so that Ron can bone up on foreign policy. Slightly different than most mothers of 3. One more thing that was great about Trump 2016 is he didn’t pretend to be someone whos just like us. These politicians are sickening

One point I would like to make, somewhat off-topic....

“But the media also know that Ron DeSantis is a popular governor, having won his re-election with over 59% of the votes.”

That’s an impressive win percentage....considering that many of the Floridians are retired New York liberal leftists...that always vote in lock-step for any Democrat.

For DeSantis to have won by that much speaks volumes on how highly he is thought of in Florida and how good a job he has done FOR Floridians, despite all demonizations by the left and Trump to the contrary.

Her ad before the last election was the most powerful political ad since Reagan’s “There is a bear loose”, and “It’s morning in America” ads.

Those relocating to Florida from the North tend to be Republican in their thinking and register Republican when they arrive.

- Her kids are young, very young. She should be nurturing them instead of subjecting them to a grueling campaign and vicious attacks by the Dems/media.

- She's a breast-cancer survivor, but that doesn't mean she's out of the woods. Breast cancer is one of the deadliest cancers and can come back at anytime.

- Ron just got re-elected Governor, and now he's running for POTUS. What does that tell you? He's also considering picking Sarah Huckabee Sanders who just got elected to. Why can't these Republicans finish the jobs they were elected to?

Hmmmm...I thought the Deep State was pushing for DeSantis to beat Trump in the primaries first before going all wackjob on him. The only reason he’s running in the first place is because the Deep State is forcing him to run. Once he’s out of the race, though, then he’s back to being “as bad as Trump.”

With today's 'mass media' little more than a self-appointed Marxist Ministry of Truth at this point, we can expect their smear tactics and baseless attacks to only continue, and get progressively (pun intended) worse.

The 'fourth estate' is a 'fifth column'. But we've know that for a while already, haven't we?

Considering some of the comments in this thread and other threads on FR, Politico reporters seem like they’ve penetrated FR to make comments.

I hate to break it to you, but Trump is also a politician now. And....I don’t know too many folks “just like us” that have a gold toilet. So pretending to be one of the common folk wouldn’t have worked for Trump. No, Trump comes off more as just another (former New Yorker, former Democrat) elitist, as he continues to put down his fellow Republican opposition.

“Why can’t these Republicans finish the jobs they were elected to?”

Why can’t these “Only Trumpers” wait until these Republicans officially announce that they are running before they begin their campaign of “bash and demonize”?

Questions for the cosmos and the universe only, apparently.

The claim that he isn’t is laughable.

It's a very catty article,

they took a swipe at the low-hanging fruit

the part of the article quoted on FR says.

Um, no. That phrase has a totally different meaning. In this context, it would mean someone who is also running but has much less of a chance of winning.

She is portrayed as being an overly supportive wife. I don't think they prove the "overly" part.

Why don't we stick to the issues, Politico.
