Peter = Petra = Rock
peter = petros = pebble

Due to what Jesus was talking about, the ROCK had to be the truth Peter had revealed to him from God the Father, that JESUS IS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.
Matthew 26:34
Jesus said unto him(Peter), Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
Mark 14:72
And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
Peter was an extraordinary MAN. That’s it. He was a sinner saved by Christ. His life was marked by many ups and downs. If one can be disappointed in Heaven, Peter would be that ANY glory, praise, or accolades would be given to him. Peter knows ALL honor and praise should go to the King of Glory and Lord of all.
Exactly!
People here can come up what ever theological reference they wish in order to make themselves feel better, but here is a historical fact based upon scripture:
Peter was only known as Simon, until The Lord called him Rock (Peter).
Anybody who suggests that the Peter is not the Rock can argue with The Lord.
Yes. We get that. Thank you for your contribution. But if there was a “rock” it was James the brother of Jesus.
Peter is a man not the Rock of my salvation
In this verse, Paul explicitly tells us who *petra* is, and it is Christ.
In the Greek, the word for rock is petra.
JESUS is the chief cornerstone, not Peter.

*Petra* and *Petros* denote two different objects in the Greek.
Jesus is *petra* and Peter was names *Petros*.
