The recent exodus of staff from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign appears to have shocked some with expert knowledge of political campaigns as the Republican looks to rest his drive for the White House.
The Republican's campaign has cut roughly a third of its staff, or 38 people, as part of an effort aimed at getting DeSantis' presidential bid back on track but the decision has raised questions.
Long-time DeSantis staffer Kyle Lamb has been revealed as one of the 38 people who've been let go by the campaign, a decision that was met with surprise by Peter Schorsch, the publisher of FloridaPolitics.com. Lamb was the campaign's director of research and data.

"Just learning that @kylamb8 has exited the @RonDeSantis campaign; he, along with @ChristinaPushaw and @JeremyRedfernFL, was one of the most vocal defenders of RD during the pandemic," Schorsch tweeted on Monday. "I genuinely can't believe they let go of such a loyal soldier."

Veteran Republican strategist Ed Rollins, who served as a political adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan, also questioned the decision to cut campaign staff during an interview with CNN on Monday.
"[DeSantis] makes dumb moves," Rollins said. "Controlling the budget is a very important part of a campaign. He raised a lot of money early on. You don't lay off a third of your staff a week before you're gonna announce in Iowa. You wait a couple weeks, you spread them out, do something with them, send them home.
"But you don't basically—I arrive, gonna run in Iowa, I haven't been managing my budget, I've got to lay off a third of my people. People say, well, the job you're running for is about management, among a lot of other things.
"So to me, everything he's kind of done...

"So to me, everything he's kind of done, it's just—he's not a bad guy, he's a good guy. We've got lots of good guys running for the presidency, but you're not gonna beat Trump," he said.
Ron....Come home and work on Home Insurance prices....PLEASE!!
I hope when Newsweek writes an article about Trump’s upcoming indictment in DC (his third indictment, I think, it’s hard to keep track) you will happily post that article on this forum since you think Newsweek is a reliable source. I look forward to reading it.
Try again. It’s quoting Florida Politics which is pro-Desantis and the former head of the Ready 4 Ron Super PAC. That’s why we call you the nonfactor.
DeSantis wanted to run for President in the worst possible way, and he has. It is truly a shame, but as the Japanese say, しょうがないですね, it can’t be helped now.
I was hopeful but if he was dumb enough to hire Ed Rollins, he has NOT learned what hopefully Trump has learned.
Don’t go to the GOP when you want help.
>> DeSantis wanted to run for President in the worst possible way, and he has.
I see a tag line in there, somewhere. :-)
Ah yes, Ed Rollins. Former Trump guy, now former DeSantis guy. So you think Ed Rollins and Rolling Stone and Newsweek are good indicators of the how the party is going. Gotcha. Carry on!
>> Don’t go to the GOP when you want help.
Yeah, we’re at the point where the “institutional GOP” must be thoroughly destroyed if we hope to restore the “essence of the GOP”.
(Reminds me of the United Methodist Church, which is in a similar condition.)
I suspect DeSantis is supported by the Bush, Cheney, Paul Ryan wing of the Republican Party.
*sigh* I knew Trump would find some way of destroying DeSantis, and now we will most likely lose in 24 and wont have a strong person to run in 28 either.
Rollins was pro-Trump in 2016, then helped the DeSantis campaign set up a Carey-committee type super-PAC which doesn’t seem to make much of a wave. Now he’s critical of DeSantis fighting Wokeism and the alphabet mafia. Which begs the question, is he a mole or just no longer an effective strategist?
Wonder how many FReepers left?
DeSantis destroyed himself, he needed to wait until 2028 and back Trump wholeheartedly in 2024! Trump’s base is at least 75% of the Republican Party after EVERYTHING this stinking government has done to destroy this man there is NO WAY IN HELL that base will abandon him!! DeSantis not being SMART enough to realize this doesn’t deserve to be POTUS!! DeSantis DESTROYED himself Trump didn’t have a damn thing to do with it!! DeSantis is a GREAT governor of FL. but he obviously has no idea where the hell the base of his own party is with this LAW FARE BS being dropped on Trump, his supporters, his inner circle!! DeSantis should have been SCREAMING from the rooftops about the government injustice going on YET he didn’t!! This is about J6 political prisoners, this is about Trump’s damn MAINTENANCE MAN, this is about Bannon, Navarro, Manafort, AND anyone in Trump’s circle!! This is about attorneys being THREATENED about losing their license for EVER defending Trump, this is about Censorship, DeSantis is to GOPe to understand, DeSantis said he is Trump WITHOUT the baggage, THIS IS ABOUT THE BAGGAGE!! DeSantis destroyed himself!!
I could vote for DeSantis but the way he has fallen right in with the establishment Republican trash has made me leery of him. The Republican establishment are the scum of humanity. Liars, thieves and traitors, same as the Democrats but too afraid to come out of the closet for what they really are-cheap ass liberals.
Other than Bush 41 running on Reagans record the establishment Republicans have had their asses kicked in every presidential election and the two they managed to win were by razor thin margins against two of the most obnoxious candidates ever to run for president Gore and Kerry. Trump ignored the GOP establishment and won by a good margin in 16, DeSantis should be paying attention to history and that says the GOP establishment are the kiss of death for a win.
