The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation following a concerning incident at the Oconee Nuclear Station in South Carolina on Thursday night.
At approximately 8:05 p.m. on Thursday, deputies from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately to an emergency call from the Oconee Nuclear Station. An unknown individual had reportedly driven a car through the exit side of the facility’s gate, facing Highway 183, FOX Carolina reported.
According to on-site accounts, following the unauthorized entry, the facility’s security systems activated pop-up barricades designed to immobilize intruding vehicles. The rogue driver, however, managed to reverse the vehicle upon encountering these barricades and proceeded down an adjacent dirt road. It was here that Duke Energy security personnel made an effort to block the intruding car.
Undeterred, the driver escalated the situation by ramming through a fence and attempting to strike the security personnel on-site. Making a hasty exit from the plant premises, the driver, in his bid to escape, tried to ram a security member’s truck parked near the exit.
The car then continued its reckless rampage, speeding back onto Highway 183 and eventually diverting to a property on Jones Mill Road. It was at this location that gunshots were reported, though the source remains unconfirmed by the deputies.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, led by Master Deputy Jimmy Watt, is currently on a manhunt for the suspect and the vehicle involved, WYFF News 4 reported.
They have identified the car as a silver 2002 Toyota Camry with an Arkansas license plate bearing the tag number 380VDR.

How exactly do you rate it as F+
Did he ever gain access or even get close to any sensitive areas, sounds like no.
That would be like saying a military base gets an F+ because someone ran into their fence. Hard to stop a nutcase or terrorist from a random act, how about we try to understand exactly what he achieved first?
I would agree they likely did fairly well, probably not an A but the defenses prevented access to anything sensitive.
I posted this the other day.
We all need to prepare for this type of terrorist attack.
Soft targets like infrastructure and shopping malls.
So, if you have not started prepping you might want to start.
Do you have a generator?
Do you have water for 3 weeks.
Do you have enough food in your house?
Do you have enough medicine on hand to last a couple months?
Do you have enough ammunition?
How about firewood?
Do you have several thousand dollars in CASH?
Do you have batteries and a radio?
Do you have candles?
These are all the things I can think of off the top of my head.
I am sure there are other FReepers that are more prepared than I am.
It might be a good time to publish a list.
My guess is the guy is not white.
It doesn't fit the oppressed minority/white supremacist narrative.
Yes....those SPIKES like Rental car companies have.
Carl G. Catl G don’t care.
Arkansas man wants to be like Florida man.
5.56 works. 7.62 works better.
Because the perp got away.
At minimum the pepr should have been caught while on premises.
IMO at medium the perp should have been caught, detained and debriefed. Then charged with B&E, Destruction of property and other charges that could be brought against him.
IMO At best the perp should have been shot and killed.
That’s why.
Boils down to the fedz are too busy trying to arrest everyone that might/will Vote for President Donald J. Trump.
unarmed guards...
Security companies, like retailers, are terrified of lawsuits by or on behalf of injured/dead criminals. They took away security officers guns across the country.
Ironically ,Mr. Ira Lipman,of Guardsmark, ,who I belueve is Jewish,is/was proud of achieving his goal of disarming security guards.
...Just saying our power plants these days are more hardened and locked down than the average military base.
******
Gee, that’s so reassuring.
Nuclear plants are hardened targets. Bad guys will learn quickly if they attack them.
I’m sure they are embedded amongst plant employees, just waiting for the signal.
Is it one of our uninvited guests?
Why go all the way from Arkansas to South Carolina? There is a big nuke plant at Russellville.
Plants are not designed to trap or capture, only repel. It makes a difference. Also the guards are terrified of lawsuits if they actually shot and kill someone. Blame the libs for that.
The US has become a clown show. We can't even put in Roman-era security measures.
Had to be a PTA mom, a priest or just a white man. They are the only ones that are doing terrorism in this country according the DOJ and FBI. Might need to add islamophobe to the list soon.
