A hot mic captured two journalists making jokes alluding to the assassination of former President Donald Trump while waiting for his arrival at a federal courthouse on Tuesday.
This troubling occurrence took place outside the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse, with news teams on standby, having set up their equipment along the anticipated route from the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia.
The former president is set to appear before the DC Circuit Court of Appeals following District Judge Tanya Chutkan’s refusal to dismiss two motions that invoked First Amendment protections and presidential immunity.
Trump’s lawyers argued that Trump is immune from federal prosecution for alleged ‘crimes’ committed while he served as US President.
According to Mediate, the appeal is to be heard by a panel of three judges: Judge J. Michelle Childs, a recent appointee by Joe Biden; Judge Florence Pan, also a Biden appointee; and Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson, a veteran judge appointed by President George H.W. Bush.
During the wait, a live news feed from AP unintentionally captured a conversation between reporters positioned to capture Trump’s entrance.

Very professional of them. I’m still trying to figure out WHY they are called “journalists.”
What are the names of those reporters and who do they work for? We deserve to know.

I used to think that assassinating Trump would quickly spiral the country into CW II, but I don’t know anymore.
Calm down. One of these flamers will think it will bring him eternal fame and grafitude and will do it himself, itself, themself.

I hope the Secret Service is making these two journalists very uncomfortable as I type this.
I was a professional photographer for years. One week, after a recent school shooting, I was supposed to take photos of the Athletic Director and Football Coach. I went to the front desk and said, “I am here to shoot the AD.”
We use the term “shoot” all the time. In context we would “shoot a game”, “shoot the cheerleaders”, “shoot head shots of the voilleyball team.”
The folks at the front desk were not amused.
This is just another case where folks on either side are devoid of a sense of humor. Before you all jump ugly and say “it’s not funny”…you need to get yourself a cup of coffee and sit down. I am merely presenting the context.
I would suggest that very few people couch their words 24 hours a day. Lots of attempted jokes fall flat when they are spoken to the wrong audience.
I think everyone understands that. But the allusions to JFK and a "convertible," in a highly policed situation, make this a much more pointed case than general chit chat.
