Estonia Says Russia to Fight West Within a Decade Unless Deterred by a Counter Build-Up of Armed Forces
Citizen Watch Report ^

Why would Russia want to attack the West? What purpose could it serve?

The only explanation is comic book evil. That is the logic of the entire American Empire: everything is a comic book.

If they even art doing a troop buildup – and they’re not – they would be doing it defensively because NATO is constantly issuing all these threats. The head of NATO recently announced he is planning a decades-long war with Russia.

You seriously want to give the Ukraine back to the Tartars, a group that no longer exists....Au contraire. The city of Kazan, on the Volga, is about 50% Tatar. Another fact you'll never learn from Putin's_Revisionist_History.com

Given that a Moscow with warm water ports, based on its’ history since the 13th century, proves itself to be an existential threat to the entire First World, I’d say the British might have had it right.

Well, I guess the Chargers will have to fight for it against the second or third most powerful country on the planet, then. I wish them luck.

You are a true fan of the forever war. Why do we care about a Slavic civil war 5000 miles away overseas?

“Why do we care about a Slavic civil war 5000 miles away overseas?”

Because its the trigger that could cause a dozen other wars everywhere else.

And its not a “slavic civil war”. Its an international war between two nation states. This is like calling the German invasion of Norway a “Nordic civil war”.

Everyone and his brother is keeping “a close eye on China”.
That is the USN’s, and the Japs, and the SK’s primary problem. Not to mention the Australians, Filipinos, Indonesians, Viets, Indians, etc and etc.

Do you think FR obsessions define what real people are doing?

It is a Slavic civil war exacerbated by a predatory third party called NATO. Fact.

That’s what a lot of them are doing.
That’s why most of the well-funded Euro airforces have been upgraded to F-35’s. That’s why Estonia is spending about as much as the US (proportionately) on defense - Estonia has about the population of Maine. And so are Eastern Euro countries, notably Poland.

You know all this, and yet you say this stuff. You can look it up. Why be so lazy?

--- "...everything is a comic book...."

Wiki has some interesting stats....

Ethnic groups (2023)

67.8% Estonians
22.0% Russians
10.2% other

Religion (2021[1])

58.4% no religion
26.7% Christianity
12.7% undeclared 2.2% other

Estonia has a population of about twice Washington DC.

Disclaimer: Peter Sellers was not Estonian. He was funnier.

The US has a multiple of the aerospace building capacity of either Russia or China. That’s why the US is building over 200 fighter aircraft a year, vs Russia’s @15-20, and China’s @50.

Add in the allies, east and west, and western aerospace capacity is immensely greater.

“Slavic” is a very broad ethnic designation. There are all sorts of slavs. Poles are slavs. If Russia invades Poland, is that a “civil war”? If Germany invades the Netherlands, what is that?

No, this “civil war” garbage comes from a 19th century romantic theory, pan-slavism. It was very popular in Russia around 1914. Putin has made it clear he holds to that. Its quite a convenient justification for imperialism.

Right, so when the Russians invaded Poland in WW2, was it also a "Slavic civil war"? Was it also "exacerbated by a predatory third party" called Britain? Idiotic argument

I suppose the Baltic states feel exposed, being separated from the NATO mainland by Kaliningrad. Do they fear that Putin will want to establish a connection, a “Polish Corridor” to the Kaliningrad oblast at their expense? If so Estonia would be the first to face it. Still, these are all NATO countries, unlike Ukraine, and would have to be defended. Maybe the Estonians don’t want to end up looking like Bakhmut or Avdiivka after having NATO “defend” them on their soil.

I know, I have a bachelors degree in anthropology. Russia ruled the Ukraine for 300 years and the Ukraine is part of Russia and definitely within Russia’s sphere of influence and is of vital strategic importance to the Russians.

I could argue with you more but the facts on the ground are that the Ukraine is losing, and badly, so my point will be made on the ground whatever either of us say. Get ready to be very disappointed.
