Link Only.

I attempted to ask permission of the news source in Indiana and in Texas. The author is syndicated and they could not give me permission to excerpt.

I thought this article pertained to where we are today in Government.

The news source is new to me but it is a collection of local newspapers in Texas (ownership), Ohio and Texas.

Both the "The Republic" location in Indiana and the corporate office were friendly.

Let me know what you think about the other branches of the newspaper group.

In the “Republic,” Plato as Socrates contends that only someone who will guard the laws and institutions of the state is qualified to rule.

Nowadays, anybody who puts themself forward as a Platonic guardian doesn't care about the laws and institutions of the country. Soros, Schwab, Gates, Bezos. Academics are even worse. Guardians like John Brennan (CIA), Michael Hayden (CIA), and James Comey (FBI) aren't to be trusted either.

Just note: This article is only for Madagascar and Iran, neither of which follow American copyright law.

The old Steve Martin trick from the movie Bowfinger..

You know, no matter how you slice it, Plato laid the ideological groundwork for Nazi Germany.
The Founding Fathers of America had little use for his thinking.
Jefferson despised his works.

Yes. But Madison and Jefferson both studied Greek history in the process of forming our government.

There is much of ancient philosophy that was wrong, but some of them were amazingly astute.

Our constitution was pretty spot on.

But it's over ever since 19th amendment was enacted into law.

Am interested in the collection of newspapers in this group.

Miss the old regional newspapers who wrote most of their own articles.

Looked at a little history of AIM and it appears they buy and sell newspapers.

I’ve only looked at The Republic (very close to Free Republic).

The staff seemed knowledgeable and were friendly about my inquiry.

It did cripple it.

It was a work of art. And is held in contempt by far too many in DC.

The Declaration of Independence? Nobody in DC wants to talk about that.

I think the Constitution may last for another 100 years or so, if women did not vote.

But now politicians can ignore us. They don't even need our votes. They can say the "a" word and that's sufficient to get the votes they need.

Oh they studied the Greeks. And they decided Plato was dead wrong. He wanted an elite of “Guardians”. They were to be raised in a communist collective by professional child raisers and then elevate to rule over society. Then halfway ok people called auxiliaries to watch out for the interests of Guardians, and then the lowly “producers”.
Plato. Plato is the direct reason for the Jefferson Quote about some people not being born with saddles, nor other born to ride.

Cicero was a much bigger influence on our founders.

“the form which we have substituted, restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. all eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. the general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view. the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of god. these are grounds of hope for others. for ourselves”

The problem comes from people quoting ancients in Greece and Rome and thinking they won the argument. There was a wide variety of opinion, ranging from flat out evil, to wise.

I can imagine someone 2000 years from now trying to sound smart by dropping quotes from Hillary Clinton, Reagan, and then Bernie all in the same paragraph, having no clue how they were not all the same.

I would bet VDH would have some great examples of ridiculous references to Greece by people today trying to sound smart.

VDH is smart.

But once in a while I find his perspective on a few issues don’t make sense to me.

He is very well educated.

I remember that quote, he remained defiant until the end.

“they don't even need out votes”

Of course that is the plan. Universal suffrage of total idiots and our sworn enemies.
