Prayer request from a fellow FReeper
FReeper request

Dear Trussell, I am on your ping list and have been privileged to pray for many individuals because of your efforts. My family is in need of prayers, and I would like to ask for them anonymously without posting myself. I am hoping you can slip this in somewhere for me. :)
My husband, who can be a dear, dear man who loves me, is also ill with bipolar disorder. He takes medications, but I have been unable to convince him he needs to maintain an ongoing relationship with a psychiatrist/counselor. (This is complicated by the fact that we are self-employed and currently have no health insurance.)
Recently, he has seemed off to me and has been drinking, something he doesn't usually do unless he is not feeling right. He slipped past me tonight and went for a drive and I just learned he was arrested for a DUI and that the officer is sending him for a MHMR evaluation, also.
As for me, I have reached the end of my reserves to deal with this situation. I honestly don't know how to go on either with or without my husband. It is not that I am a weak person or unable to take care of myself, but I am so stressed out and so worn down from dealing with my husband's problems that I just have very little fight left in me.
We have a 12-year-old son who needs his dad but also doesn't need any more of the craziness. I give him everything I can, but sometimes I don't know if it is enough or what would be best.
I don't even know what to ask people to pray for at this point, but I know God knows what we need and that people will be led to pray in the right direction.
Thanks, Trussell, for your faithfulness on FR and for anything you can do with this request.

Prayers for this freeper and her family. May God enlighten and comfort.
Alanon is a wonderful organization you may want to look into. You will find others with similar problems as yours.

My understanding is with you, anonymous ... one of the hallmarks of bipolar is a belief that medicine is not needed, so it's an ongoing struggle. Perhaps the arrest is a blessing in disguise because the focus might be on treatment and ongoing counseling. As to your needs ... check the Department of Health listings, State, in the Government portion of your phone book. Call to see if there is a support group for you or if you can be referred elsewhere. Your son needs your sanity at a time when your world is falling apart.
Bipolar disorder is devastating to all concerned and it requires a network of support to even out the roller coaster ride. God be with You, dear one ...
Heavenly Father, I pray that You would guide this loving wife to the people and places who will come alongside with help. Thank You that You protected her husband from harm, but now, Father, while he's where he must pay attention, bring to him the right people to properly monitor his medicine and behaviour. Take hold of their beloved son, that he might not be frightened, but give him wisdom beyond his years to know that Dad is ill. I pray for a host of people to minister to this family, Father, for great is their need. Thank You that You are greater than any need, and that You delight in provision. We ask for all good things for this family, in the name of Jesus, Amen ...

I know it sounds trite but take it one day at a time. Things will work out. Let go and let God take care of it when possible. And in your position it sounds like the Serenity prayer is a must.

To Anonymous Freeper,
Please know that you have friends who are praying for you and your family. I pray that your husband can get help, that your heart will be less troubled, and that your son will understand the difficulties you both face. God Bless You.
Thanks for the ping.

Thank y'all so much for the heads up!
I join with the other Freepers here in praying for God's healing, guidance, mercy and blessing for this family.
