*whimper* Only have 30 here, and 15 of it is taken up by music demos for when we're at road shows.

I really should buy a larger drive.. Wish this silly thing had a PS/2 port on it so I could power one of those portable USB drives.

Internal in a second computer, XP Pro , to be used for video from AIW Capture card, .

Working on partitioning right now, wanted to use one partition on the drive.

PartitionMagic only goes up to 160 Gigabyte .

I think the ATI software will go higher.

I used to have a Micro Forge external hard drive on my Amiga 1000. It was about the size of a breadbox and held 20 megabytes of data.

It is connected to a PCI IDE card supplied with the drive!

XP calls it a Maxtor 6 Y250 PO SCSI Drive?

Not sure why the SCSI.

Just reading the install guide I have to run Maxblast AFTER I download all the SP1 Upgrades.

I have more work to do!

>> 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Once formatted, the actual available storage capacity varies depending on operating environment.

A thousand gigabytes, a million megabytes.

A few months ago I got a nice 40 gig 7200 RPM ATA100 drive from the refurb section of one of the local shops for about 50 bucks - bought it for a computer I was building for the wife but decided it was fair to put my old 8 gig in hers and keep the new one for myself (she don't know the difference, she just uses it to play Slingo). Really sped things up, and I figger it'd take durn near forever to fill it up with the dialup we have available in my neighborhood.

Heck, this thing'd probably take a couple days just to format on this old 'puter I have, not to mention defrag.

And I didn't see the price in that article either.

(There, I feel better now)

>> Amiga 1000

When those guys came out I wanted one sooooo bad. They did some super cool stuff in their day.

I always wondered why they couldn't stay afloat, and if they had, what their current models would be doing today.

The G4 Macs seem to have it in coolness these days, but I have to stick with the old PC platform, where I can build it myself and find software to do anything I want for free.

Still I sort of regret never having that Amiga.

Fry's is periodically having specials that beat the other places I look for gear.

Under $200 for the latest special on the Maxtor's!

$179 before a $30 rebate, which I usually fail to get cause I get busy and miss the 2 week deadlines!

Newegg has the drive for $208 !

Prices are steadily going down.

I wonder if this terabyte drive is one drive with 10 platters or just how it is put together.

I just got a Maxtor 120Gb USB 2.0 external drive at Newegg for $149 after the $30 rebate. I popped in a new USB 2.0 PCI card to get the high transfer rates of USB 2.0.

I'm using it as backup storage for my two networked PCs.

I wonder if this terabyte drive is one drive with 10 platters or just how it is put together.

I was wondering that myself. Could it possibly be some sort of mini-RAID setup to make one large logical device?

Now available:

LaCle Devices

Near the bottom of the list @ $1189.

Looks like it is not quite available yet, shows B/O.

They have a finance program , can get it for $29 month, not bad.

Looks like they are targeting the Apple users.
