Ash Wednesday has to do with penitence. Wonder if Baby-Killer Kerry got the message?

Good one!
It's sickening to see him showing off his ashes after his abmysal abortion record.

What a crock. And I wonder if anybody could check to see what he ate that day, and see if he really fasted and abstained, like Catholics are supposed to do on Ash Wednesday.

Coincidentally, while commenting on same sex-marriages, a man, desperate to find a spouse, eyes John Kerry's backside.

Did he do this last year? Or the year before or whatever?
I'm not Catholic, so I don't understand the real significance (Southern Baptist here) but surely this is very important to Catholics.
It would just make me sick if he used this as a photo-op.
BTW, if anyone would be kind enough to explain, I would really appreciate it.

It's a reminder that we are mortal.
When the priest puts the ashes on your head, he says,"Remember, man, that you are dust and unto dust you shall return."

When I was young it was a ritual that started the Lenten season. There was a prayer service and then everyone stood in line to go to the front of the church. A mixture of oil and and ashes of palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday celebrations were placed on the forhead either as a thumbprint or as a cross and the words were said, " From dust thou are, and to dust thou shalt return." It was a visible reminder and probably decended from early Christian and Jewish times where one covered oneself with ashes to mourn death.

Yep, he sure is, pandering for votes and showing how holy and faithful he is. I sure hope Bush attacks him on his unholy record.

OK, what liberal, (perhaps Gay) priest put the ashes on his forehead?
