I have been following this. It looks like a hoax.

THe real name is GARTRELL, not Gartrel.

And somebody suggested that name in a previous thread (where this is all going down.....www.godlikeproductions.com, a wacky conspiracy site full of leftists that rip GW 24/7.....(we need t infiltrate this place....you can post without being registered) on the subject, so the hoaxer just picked it up and used it.

There were some interesting pictures and maps posted, but ultimately, nothing that proved anything. Most were clearly photoshopped. Only one looked like it might be valid, and using online pics of that part of space, I could not find anything unusual. As for many stuff that they used to try to prove something that was unusual (SOHO pics etc.), nobody provided any proof that it was either moving or heading this way. To be concerned, somebody needed to prove both these conditions, but it never was proven.

I did get to learn about digital sky surveys online where you can see pics of any part of space online if you know the RA and DEC coordinates. That was pretty cool....some incredible pics I found.

It was fun following this.....but a hoax it is.

I think I corrected myself on that at some point (yes, I have read the news articles this morning), if I didn't correct it, I'm sorry. Also, while we have SEVEN out of the 12, I don't see what difference it makes, or how it is connected.

I don't see any connection either, especially since I do not believe that the asteroid strike is real at all- a point that I made in several previous posts. It is either some kind of big new FleetEx as it claims, or something is brewing somewhere and we're sending someone a message.

Well, to be fair, nobody claimed this is going to be the end of the world.

The real Aussie (the site this originated on allows anybody to spoof a nick) did not say this was going to be the end of the world. In fact, many would live.

Many later spoofed the name for fun and exaggerated things that the original poster did not say (some of the stuff above is likely from fake Aussies).

It still is a hoax though.

I have been following the AB saga and believe it to be a huge, elaborate hoax. It has made it on to many mainstream forums now.....getting a bit out of hand.

I have followed the 'proof' some have shown trying to support AB's theory, but it is not convincing.

The one thing that did honestly make me wonder was the ships sailing out.

I believe they are goign out for some reason besides just an exercise. I think it may have something to do with a terrorist attack somehow, but I do not know.

We will see.

Some have noted that AB tends to hvae some links to War of the Worlds.......name of his observatory etc.

That tends to make me believe it is a hoax.

But, this is the first scenario I honestly thought I had better follow just in case.

One more post about this as I go back through the material...

Again, his source informed him that April 16th will be the date that future events will be confirmed The following day, March 23rd, an amateur astronomer in Australia discovered an inbound comet (named Bradfield after the astronomer who discovered it) and it was racing toward the sun. Funny thing is, during the time that this meteor is nearing the sun, two additional meteors will be visible to the naked eye as well, two of them even more visible than the famous Haley's comet. Strange I thought how there has been little, if any mention about these 3 comets that would be visible in April and May?

this last statement (regarding it not being mentioned) is absolutely false. At least two magazines I read (Sky and Telescope, and Astronomy I believe they were, I dont have them in front of me at the moment, so I will have to verify it later) have long articles about these comets. There have been posts in the astronomy community for MONTHS prior to these two comets becoming visible enough for small scopes to see. (*I have an 8" reflector, rather large as scopes go for amateurs, though I know others with MUCH bigger telescopes).. I've been able to see the comets for the most part with ease. One of them anyway, very well, the other I've not actually observed yet, since every time I tried the seeing was bad.

A few days before the 16th, the individual who started the thread posted that he was personally being "pinged" by NASA, and had threats sent to him telling him to stop sharing classified information. Then, his post stopped. This is EXTREMELY TYPICAL of these so-called conspiracy folks. They talk awhile, then when they get tired of it, or things aren't working out the way they wanted it to work out, they move on. Usually it is a "threat" from some "government entity" that makes them "stop posting" and "vanish forever". They come back under another name, soon enough.

Al Franken saying that Bush was more concerned with "meteors" than with terrorists.

We all know that when Al Franken talks we should listen too, lol!

Information that says the ham intercept "Snowball" message could indeed be valid, and supersedes other operations in immediacy and importance (a whole other article could be written about this topic) Increasing news surfacing about events in space, all in the last few months.

I spend last night and very early this morning before I started work, looking for just such information. There is NOTHING out there on the internet in regards to this particular intercepted conversation that I can find except on the two or three sites that are being used to point this information out. At this point, I have NOT found a copy of the recording, so I can't listen to it myself, I can't find an original location for this material (apparently the site is DOWN???) and no one really knows who the original author is. It's all pretty suspect to me. Also, a few years back we had a similar thing happen (the details of which are sketchy in my mind right now) and a "ham radio operator" and a "recorded conversation" was involved. I remember getting involved in the beginning of it, but quickly determined somehow that it was all a hoax. I just can't remember the details right (this was probably about 10-15 years ago now). I'm wondering if this isn't the same story, just re-written now.

First indications of that are that they are a diminishing on pinpoint accuracy of locations. My company's locating parameters have already been slowly widening 500 feet so far. Delta Airlines just announced a "computer glitch" that has grounded their planes but I suspect that they are starting to have problems with their GPS system.

My GPS is reading just fine. Has been. Hasn't changed, I check it every day or two. It's remained with in a few fractions of a few feet either way. Hmmmm I do not see any evidence of this occuring.

Anyway, in mid July the "pellets" arrive. These are the first and second "Events" alluded to by the earlier poster. You see he HAS to word things so that you read them between the lines so as not to go ´over the line´ of divulging confidential information sworn not to, upon his retirement, which he really hasn't thus far.

Wait and see. Also, "Sworn to secrecy".. hmmm. All of us are "sworn to secrecy"... but we don't go "talking around" secrets either to "get the message across without saying it" either. You either know something, or you don't. If you talk about it, you're in trouble. If you don't then who knows what you know, except you? Retired huh? I won't say anything more about that, now.

A Large asteroid passes between our Moon and the Earth which causes havoc here even ´thought to be able to "peel" the upper stratosphere "Snowballing" Earth. Extremely doubtful... no "peeling" will occur. It would have to be VERY large, and VERY close and we'd already be feeling the effects of such a thing, long before it got here. Tidal variations would be noticable already.

Also, if it were that BIG we'd probably get HIT because the gravity would cause a near miss or a collision. A smaller chunk of rock, stripping the atmosphere? Nawww

Finally, the sources of the articles....http://www.rense.com/, http://www.godlikeproductions.com/, and http://www.timebomb2000.com/ are all, in my mind somewhat questionable "sources". Two of them are news sites. Rense, Jeff Rense, that is a RABID anti-Bush, anti-government kind of guy. He is about as leftist as they come, and spouts so much nonsense sometimes that it's difficult to get a clear understanding of what he is trying to say. He has on several occasions attacked anyone and anything that has anything credible to say about anything at all. He posts material on his site that has NO sources usually, or refuses to show any citations for sources of material, and in most cases is talking to hear himself talk. The other two sites are similar to survival web sites that have been around for years, touting the same things... the end of the world. In other words, ALL of this material, if it is coming from just these three sites is probably bogus information. While I can't say that the posters on Bushcountry (the original author tha wanted his name left off) are not doing their best, given the circumstances, I WILL say that people leaving their names off of articles because of a PERCEIVED THREAT is about the LAMEST excuse I've ever heard and it's used so often it's becoming cliche.

I would advise that anyone refusing to give a name, show some accurate data and proof is simply obfuscating his or her TRUE agenda. The original story teller ought to be coming forward, and not THREE days before, but now, today. Spill his or her guts about this, and tell the truth. But, I bet they won't. -- Rick

RE: plutonium in orbit- It would take ~98,000,000 tons evenly distributed over the entire earth to create a 1 foot thick section of air exceeding the LD-50 for it. That's about 97,999,100 more tons than ever created...

Also, parts of the texts I've seen indicate the "objects" are <= 1 mile in diameter and ~55-75 lbs\ft3. Thats dirty water weight, easily nukable even if close, and probably prone to explode atmospherically. No where near Cretaceous or Permian extinction sizes...

I agree with Rick.

If MOST of us are gonna die within the month anyway, what kind of threat could they POSSIBLY be worried about in posting their true identity?

Are they worried that the government will send special
agents to 'whack' them before they get their full 8 weeks
of life left?

Suppose you're the President. You have been briefed that such an event is going to take place. When do you notify the public, or do you, at all? You can't possibly shelter them all. Is there a benefit to the public from notifying them? What are most people going to do with that warning, besides jump in their cars with the family pictures a day or two before 'impact day' and try to drive somewhere, making the roads useless to all?

Nice question. If *I* were President...please let me indulge myself a moment (since I do not get many moments to pretend I'm the President, but I've had a couple of those chances in my life :))

My fellow Americans, friends of the world, enemies... all people, of all lands, today I come before you with a message. The time of human kind is nearly over. We have but a short time before an object from our own solar system impacts the Earth and perhaps destroys all that we know, all that we love and all that we fight for on this world.

Today, I say, it is time to cease all hostilities, and look to preserve that which is "mankind" for whatever future generations might survive. If you can protect yourselves from the coming impact and survive, then I suggest you do so. It is time to worry about preserving human history, that which we can, and saving as many people as the conditions will warrant.

I know that throughout history, mankind has met and risen to challenges, but none so great as this one. Each of us knows that survival of the Human Race is paramount, and should be well above petty arguments, religious fervor, or personal hatred of one race, religion or group of people. It is on that basis, I ask that each of you stand down from whatever war, violence or acts you are currently carrying out, or plan to carry out, and simply listen.

Shortly, I will have my National Science Advisor to shortly show us exactly what we believe is about to happen. We will not hold back, we will not lie to you. What you are about to see is the truth as we understand it, and today we are warning the world of the upcoming disaster. It will be up to each person, each country, each government to see to their own survival. We will advise our people as best as we can, with the time we have left, and the abilities we have. Each nation is now on their own. All of our troops are being returned home, even now, as we speak, so that they can be prepared with their own families.

Volunteers have been asked to man various positions throughout the government to keep it going. I myself, will remain here in Washington with my family attending to the daily business of the Nation until such time as either there is no more Nation, or no more people, or no more world, or, no more me.

May God bless you all, and may he have mercy on us all. Good evening.

with that it would turn over to the National Science Advisor, who would "tell it like it is". That's MY way of doing things. Riots? naw. I think total "Shock and Awe" would follow. I think there would be some idiots in the streets, but for the most part, I believe this country and the rest of the world would go on doing exactly what they are doing right up to the bitter end. There will be those who immediate proceed to plan for survival. Some of us are well ahead in that power curve. Others would quickly follow.

There will be survivors too. No matter what anyone thinks, I believe even the dinosaurs survived for many years or even decades after, finally the last dying because of a lack of food, because of their sizes and because, simply there wasn't anything left of their habitat to be useful.

Humans have intelligent, thinking brains, and I believe that they will survive... through whatever means it takes, and through whatever methods we can CONCEIVE. Dinosaurs didn't have that sort of thinking ability. We do.

Well, all that said, I don't think that is going to happen. I think, like others, it's a hoax. One more of many "End of the World" Scenarios being tested by the anarchists. - Rick

All I know is that I've got an Orion Skyview 4.5, and I haven't seen anything.

On the other hand, this is more fun than spending New Years Eve trailing a French airliner over the U.S.

Like a few of us did....

"Pinging some of the Freepers I have respect for to "comment" on this thread? Do I need to worry about making my mortgage payment next month? ;)"

I became a survivalist in the late 1970's. I've always been concerned that civilization was too fragile, with too many ways for our technical world to get hammered...with too few people who really understood how to fend for themselves without someone delivering their pizza, water, electricity, gas, and taking away their sewage.

So even though I run a successful business and live in and amongst modern society, I've always had a safe room, massive stores of water, large stocks of food, seeds, and ammo for my arsenal here in rural Alabama.

I've always paid attention to news in far-off places that might give me a heads-up that an impending catastrophy was about to change my lifestyle, etc.

But I can say without hesitation that the predictions and claims above for this thread are hogwash. Mere hype. Mere words used to spool up the adrenaline in all who come in contact with them, no doubt from someone who is massively bored with his or her own personal life.

You can search FR and find that I likewise was telling this same thing to the Y2K fanatics back in 1998 and 1999. Back in the 1980's I was saying the same thing to the nuclear war fanatics of the day on CompuServe.

There are several types of survivalists. Some feverishly hope for a disaster so that their stores of "wealth" make them mini-kings in a brand new post-catastrophy world. These are the types of people who are the most susceptable to such thoughtless scare tactics (as in this thread).

Treat this sort of hype as mere fiction, for your reading enjoyment only. Most of these sorts of authors are so isolated from the greater world around them that *you* will know about any impending disaster before they do.

And that, my friend, epitomizes irony.

The credit card companies would also encourage everyone to max out their cards. Insurance companies might sell special insurance, especially those insurance companies that are more speculative. We might be alone in the universe, so if our planet gets trashed, no one would be available to shed a tear. Also, something got the dinosaurs after all, and something will get every one of us eventually. Worry? There are better things to worry about.

It would be the hardest decision I would ever make no doubt....could not bear the thought of letting them die.....but there would be NOTHING I could do.

An asteroid moving at incredible speeds would not be deflected with a couple nuclear blasts even.

It occurs to me that perhaps the hoaxer in this story is related to this thread. I thought there was mention of the earth getting "hit" with shrapnel in this thread too, so perhaps that was an attempt on the part of the hoaxer to further the story somehow?
