I have a brother who has some real personal problems from his past that has gotten involved with an organization called Landmark Forum. This has been going on for over a year, maybe two and has never been and issue with anyone in the family - until recently.
He called us late one night and said that he wnated to throw a birthday party for "Bette" which, for our family, means that he is talking about our mom. Part of his problems had to do with a very painful split from our family, so this wasn't too much of a surprise. What was strange though, is the fact that my mom has been dead for over a year. Why does anyone want to throw a birthday party for a dead person?
Whenever he brought up this Landmark Program in the past, I thought it might be some above-board program that was helping deal with his personal issues so I wasn't too alarmed. However, this latest call got the red flags going so I did some googling and found quite a bit of history on this program. Its' roots are from the old '70s EST Program where you paid a lot of money to be yelled/cursed at, told when to go to the bathroom, and finally, told you that you "get it" when there is "nothing to get." The catch is to continue you into their "programs" drawing more dollars from your pocket and hopefully other recruits. The stories on-line can be truly difficult to read from those who got away from this group.
Have any of my brother and sister Freepers ahd any experience with this group and/or make any recommendations on how to handle my brother's situation? Your help will be greatly appreciated along with your prayers for him.

Google groups is a great place to find things you might not locate otherwise.
