John Kerry's Huge Gaffe

Posted on 10/01/2004 7:22:53 AM PDT by IM4Real

I haven’t heard much from the media about John Kerry’s huge gaffe in last night’s debate when he left Poland out of the list of allies who joined the United States in the liberation of Iraq. This is an especially egregious gaffe since Kerry is touting himself as someone who can bring a "real" coalition together. President Bush picked right up on it and pointed out Kerry had left out Poland. I thought it was very reminiscent of the second Presidential debate in 1976 between Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.

"Ford's Remarks Startle Europeans; Poles Among the Most Bemused"

Washington Post, Oct. 8, 1976; A8; By Peter Osnos

The media made much of the foreign policy "gaffe" President Ford committed in his second debate with Jimmy Carter. In his remarks, Ford stated that the Soviet Union was not politically dominating the countries of Eastern Europe. The media interpreted this statement as completely contrary to the accepted view, which saw the countries of Eastern Europe, especially Poland, as being well within the Soviet sphere of influence.

Will the media be as critical with a more significant Kerry gaffe about Poland as they were with President Ford's gaffe which many say cost Gerald Ford the election?

Okay, here's what I'm thinking now:  If you listen to the Cortaslim commercials, they say it's part of a diet, exercise, supplement and (I think) meal replacement program.  Well, heck, if you're doing all that stuff, you should be able to lose weight without Cortaslim.
It's kind of like saying Chocolate Blasted Sugar Bombs are part of a complete nutritious breakfast with milk, juice, toast, and bacon.
Plus, even in that one where they had the blind study, the people only lost nine pounds.  That's not so much, really.

Oh, and thanks for the double vanity.

I don't like his stance on jun control.
And I think John Kerry is jonna jet me killed.

That wasn't his worse mistake, but it usually takes the MSM 48hrs to pick up on this stuff, and cBS 72hrs to falsify documents proving Poland was never there...

What? Kerry forgot Poland? When did this happen, and how come I didn't read about it in one of the other several hundred vanities on the debates????
