Dreamed about a huge tornado, felt like a figurative dream.
Especially since the tornado had a spiral split in it.
Don't know what happens next, in the dream things were being flattened, and my attention was focused on the storm itself, the tornado, and the awesome terribleness of the storm.
Had this dream about five days ago.
Probably nothing more than an odd dream, considering I ended up walking up a set of stairs that were cut in half and leaning forward, or it could be premonition.
I don't know.
It likely isn't for me to know.
What about it ? It is a biblical event, documented in the Bible. If 2 Tim 3:16-17 is true, then there is no need for God to speak to us in dreams because he has already given us everything we need. OTOH, if God speaks to us in dreams, then that scripture is not true. If that scripture is not true, then what others are not true ? See, once you open the door for extra-biblical revelations, then anything goes.
The theme of the split
in the tornadoes and in the stairs
DOES sound like some alert, warning about something.
CERTAINLY A RECURRING THEME in many prophetic dreams and visions is
A FORK IN THE ROAD--WITH THE STRONG PRESS TO
CHOOSE LIFE, CHOOSE GOD--BE CAREFUL; WALK CLOSE TO GOD. KNOW GOD'S VOICE SUCH THAT YOU WON'T BE DECEIVED.
Many such include incredible deceptions that only those walking close to God will discern rightly about.
Sounds to me like the split is about CHOICE, to me.
just imho, of course.
Sounds plausible to me.
What I remember of the dream most is my reaction to seeing the storm.
I stopped where I was and watched for a few seconds before taking off for shelter again.
Not many seemed concerned with the storm though.
There was an entire family having dinner, talking laughing and joking as this freakish sized storm bore down on them.
That's when I woke up, like someone flicked a light switch.
That confirms it even more to me.
Reminds me of the Belteshazar scene in the Bible where he's having a grand party time with the vessels from the Jewish Temple.
And
THE HAND
comes to write on the wall that he's been weighed in the balances and found wanting.
Many are blithely going about their 'eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die' mentality thinking that there is no tomorrow and that they will always be in charge of their destinies to do whatever feels good, whenever, however, wherever and to blazes with the details.
To blazes, exactly.
Most will not wake up until it is far, far too late for them to do anything about it but sink painfully into the chaos.
God have mercy on all of us. And on the idiots--whatever His will decrees.
If it was a warning of some kind, it was too figurative for me to understand.
Perhaps what it was warning of can be prevented by me speaking about it to someone, anyone?
What I don't understand is why some would have a problem with God warning people of coming things.
If it squares with what scripture says and isn't contradictory to it, what's the problem?
God didn't say anywhere that he would stop telling things to people.
History didn't cease to be when scripture was revealed in full.
Since He sees everything from past to future, why wouldn't He say something to someone?
Who are we to question Him?
I just hope I DON'T have that dream again.
seeing a tornado, even in a dream, that was more than a mile wide was pretty weird.
And the spiral split in the tornado made it look even more threatening and unnatural.
You answered my question in which I was basically hoping we'll be able to read what others have written but who want to remain anonymous, and so have not posted here openly. I am looking forward to it. I find this subject matter very interesting.
That's an excellent suggestion. We don't know how the Lord will use our prayers...we can only respond to His prompting to pray as he directs.
It's never easy to pray for people that you feel have wronged you. That's when we have to commit our efforts to the Lord. This is an issue over which I am still struggling. I understand that justice is the Lord's, and if he wants me to pray for those people, then I do so. But I still don't find it an easy process.
I would be more worried if most FReepers did NOT have these kinds of nightmares; that's what the lamestream media is serving up every night. I usually don't; then again, I don't watch television, so those graphic images don't get into my mind.
Remember that tragedy in Wales several decades ago, when the mountain of slag collapsed on a school and killed many children? One young girl who died in the tragedy had told her mother the day before that she had a dream the prior night of a mountain smothering her school. The dream was so vivid that she insisted on relating it to her Mother.

I can imagine about the awesomeness.
I still feel, personally, that there's a qualitative difference in the alarm felt from a God-warning dream and a nightmare.
Don't know how to describe it, though.

I think, USUALLY,
the main speaking The Lord wants us to do with His warnings
IS PRAYERS TO HIM.
They are HIS INVITATION to be involved in the dramas He choreographs.
I can understand about praying for others.
However, Have mercifully been led of Him over that point a long time ago.
When The Lord shows one a sufficiently intense mirror about one's own flaws, it's much easier to be compassionate and prayerful and forgiving about others--even one's 'enemies.'
Besides, it's the best way to see that they get what they need in terms of discipline. The Lord tends to withhold at least some portions of discipline until we forgive and release them to HIM.

But if you ever have such a dream, I believe that YOU will certainly detect the very REAL, SIGNIFICANT, QUALITATIVE differences between a normal mental processing nightmare and a warning Dream from The Lord.
I don't know how to describe the differences but they are both subtle and pronounced. Hard to articulate.

5) I haven't had a particular dream about an October surprise. But knowing how you enjoy such things, I thought I'd tell you about one I did have in my earlier years...
The Dream:
I was outside with group of folks, marvling at a strange cloud formation against an otherwise, star-filled night sky. As we watched, the cloud grew larger, and closer to us, almost as if we could reach out and touch it.
Then, out of the center of the cloud, something appeared. It was a man on a glorious white horse. And the people just stood there, mezmerized at what they saw. He appeared to have a very peaceful face and looked familiar to me. The people around me began to drop to their knees and shout, 'Christ has returned! God has sent His Son back!'
But I was the only one left standing. And as the man on the white house got closer, he looked at the people on their knees and smiled, and then turned to me. The expression on his face turned to anger and the look on my face turned to shock, as I saw this man's eyes turn blood red, his face turn the color of fire, and the number 666 appeared on his forehead.
I woke up immediately. I've told very few people about this dream, but it has always been very clear to me what it means. I just wonder why I am the one who had the dream.
6) I don't know exctly why, but I "see" a date in my [sensing]: Thanksgiving. And I don't "see" his limo, but a madman shooting. Did you "see" the same?
