A Kerry Victory would have grave implications for Great Britain and any future alliance with US!

Posted on 10/27/2004 10:09:57 PM PDT by Westpole

What would a Kerry victory mean for Tony Blair and all heads of State that supported us in Iraq? The effect would be devasting. If Kerry's view that going into Iraq was a "catastrophic blunder" is ratified by a majority of the US population Tony Blair's goverment will likely fall. At the very least his Labour Party would elect a new leader to work out the messy details of extracating themselves from "the blunder". Of course Kerry's view that France and Germany would be persuaded to help is pure folly so the result would be just the opposite of what he promises..rather than more allies..we would have fewer. But just as devasting would be the precedent. What future Prime Minister would commit his country's blood and fortune to such a fickle ally. Could any future president go to anyone and say.."We have a difficult task,,we need your help." A Kerry election would not only pull the rug out from our military, our allies in Iraq and our allies around the world. The French would just rejoice that Bush paid the price for his "blunder" and that the verdict was delivered by the American people. Would they help..oh no..they want us to pay a high price. Kerry victory means greater isolation and result in just the opposite of what he claims..that he can get more help than Bush. More help for a "blunder"? No way.. It is not just for the sake of this alliance that America should support the President but for all future alliances...

In such a situation, Blair would forge a strong relationship with Kerry. Notice how effortlessly he slipped from Clinton to Bush. The Labour Party would breathe a sigh of relief that Bush was gone. Blair would win the next election no matter what happened, and probably is more likely to win if Bush loses. Not that I want Blair to win!
