I don't think that we are Freeping polls anymore, except in extreme situations.
I don't think the geek community overall is that liberal. I know quite a few that are diehard conservative. It just a certain segment of the anti-Microsoft, anti-establishment, Linux-fanatic types that seem to frequent Slashdot.

Don't bother - /. is just a collective of smarmy elitists that never grew up. Kind of like the DNC. Every time anyone on there opens his mouth about anything of substance, you can count on a lot of fecal matter coming out.
The children should stick to vim vs. emacs holy wars, and let the grown-ups run the country.
How long have you been on /.? They have always been blatantly liberal. But consider their following. Teenage to 30 something's that have never left their parents basement.
The kiddies at work like to read it, and yes, most posting on /. is done from parents basements.
