St. Paul will launch a snow emergency alert system today that calls you to tell you when there is a snow emergency so you can get your car off the street and avoid an expensive tag and possible tow.

(Excerpt) Read more at twincities.com ...

TOPICS: Local News
KEYWORDS: emergency; plowing; snow; stpaul; towing
many good opportunities here for practical jokes to be played... Since the message is only in English (for now), should be interesting to see how our new immigrant friends to St.Paul do. I don't see how this saves the city money. When I lived in St.Paul, when the snow plows buried the cars that didn't get moved, they generally learned their lesson by having to dig out their car to get to the prize - a ticket. That's if they didn't get towed which is REALLY costly to the scofflaws. St.Paul really is a hotbed of pathetic cradle-to-grave nanny state children. Next these people will also need a wake up call from the city to remind them to go to work. Newest excuse: " I never got my phone call, you can't do this." WAHHHHH!

Will the caller remind us to scrape the snow off our head and tail lights?

Gee, here in Wisconsin we look out the window to see if it's snowing, or snowing heavily.

Here in Colorado, we don't have "snow emergencies". What IS a snow emergency, anyway? We have "snow route" signs and tow trucks.

snow emergency is when you get substanitial snow. the
city has marked signs indicating night and day plow routes.
When you park on a day route steet during SE during the day
you get towed or ticketed.Same goes for night.

Yeah, but what's the "emergency" part? We have "snow routes" too and cars are supposed to be parked off the street when it snows a lot but we don't think it's an "emergency"!

headline from Star and Sickle:
"Snow blankets St.Paul, women and children hardest hit"

there. now it's an emergency.

I'm not sure why they call it an emergency.Obviously it give most people no sense of urgency to move their cars.
