"who goes to see a doctor with an office in a mini-storage unit?"

Well, since malpractice insurance for OB/GYN's have gone through the roof, hehehe...this guy was giving free exams though. FREE exams. You know the saying "If it's free..."
You know...there are many Americans, in the millions, without health insurance coverage who would jump at an opportunity for free health care. The majority of them, instead of going to their local mini-storage center, shows up at the Emergency Rooms to get their care and not pay. I volunteer at a free clinic attached to a homeless shelter in my capacity as a physician, and let me tell you, people show up in droves. Sadly, the majority of them aren't homeless at all, just regular hard working folks.
Let me attempt to answer your ponderance as to why someone would go to a mini-storage place for medical care with my experience as a physician. There is such an implicit trust by the public in this country for health care professionals, especially physicians. Many people will strictly follow the advice and treatment plans of physicians without question just because "the doctor says so" or my favorite "because he's/she's the doctor." Countless times in my career when I interview patients on their past medical history I would ask "Sir (or Ma'am) why are you taking that medication?" and the answer will be the same, "The doctor prescribed it to me." They are clueless as to why they are taking the medication in the first place, why they need it, and how the medication works nor have any knowledge about the adverse effects of these drugs at all. Countless times also during the physical exam of a patient, I see a surgical scar and would ask the patient, "What surgery did you have there?" and I find it just absolutely unbelievable that many patients cannot give me an answer as to what kind of surgery they had. "The doctor told me that I needed it." Can you even fathom letting someone perform major surgery on you under general anesthesia without asking the reason why you needed it in the first place? Yes, there are laws in this country about getting informed consent for medical care, especially for invasive procedures. But in many instances, when patients sign these legal informed consent documents, they really have no idea about what is to be or will be done because they have complete trust in the physicians and the medical staff. Which, of course, speak volumes about the medical community, but in truth, this trust can be and sometimes is exploited and violated.
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
No, it was Karl Rove's idea. He has it franchised.
I don't know..but when you find her let me know...(snicker)
Some fellas never grow up past the stage of playing doctor....
Storage Sheds? That's where we keep all the frozen semen and unfertilized eggs.......Lots of them!!!
At the storage shed? OK.
A doctor friend had a ball cap on it with, "Trust me! I'm a doctor" with a devil looking over the doctor part.
He wore it as a joke and to serve as a warning to those who had too much trust in doctors.
Paging Dr. Boneya'...
