~The Dragon Flies' Lair~XVII~
January 9, 2005 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Hand

I dream of holding your hand
Feeling your soft warm skin
Closing my eyes it feels real
Your hand softly held in mine

I dream of kissing your fingers
My lips brushing over your hands
My heart racing going wild
Staring deeply into your eyes

I dream of feeling you in my arms
Your body up against mine
Our eyes meeting and holding
Slowly and lingeringly kissing

All else fades to nothing
As our lips meet and touch
Love pouring between us
Our arms and hearts full

David Bennett

Planet Mars

One cold night I gazed
at stars
pointed a finger
directly at Mars
and dreamed one day
my name would be
out in space
just him and me

'Twas a dream one
frigid night
with Mars in the heavens
shining bright
there in the wind icy cold
a whisper heard long fore told
together out there we would be
just The Dragon Fly and Me.

together we stand our ground
out there
hand in hand near the rim
daylight-dark looking in
and twilight low and dim
gossamer velvet he and I
Just we two My Dragon Fly and I

Serendipitous song sung
far and wide hither and yon
through the country side wide
from the heavens ringing high
loud and clear I
A pair of Dragon Flies so dear.

Bright Moon: When the moon was full and shown upon the fog as on the silver sand; all objects were adorned with a purple hue and the night bird sang his cool song. I walked and let the splendor bath my soul. At the beach; the night tide danced in white celestial joy, the stately tree swayed in perfect time to nature and the wind whispered softly.

FLY: A bird must fly, a weaned kitten shy, An egg must hatch, a door must unlatch. A sea must flow, and the grass must grow; For mountains rise and the new born cries. Now, the bird must fly and bid home bye. O' the egg must hatch and the door unlatch. Sweet the infant walks away; matured into another day.

Un-Named

Entering the picture, I first taste the air,
drawing a breath deeply into my awakening lungs.
The warming ray of sunshine dances across the lawn leaving glimmers of dew drops in its trail.
We begin to run, the lazy dog and I.
Stretching out, full of happy feelings

Crossing the river bridge I am filled with joy and wonder and I cry out-
Laughing, dancing, we turn upriver
Settling into the back leg of our loop. Looking across the water,
I can see the budded roses that marked our starting point.
Trying not to think about the remaining distance.

The trees pass, "smooshing", soggy leaves underneath.
Sliding into view, Another river bridge. The turnaround.

Traffic "whoosing" with tires crackling,
we turn under the bridge and head downriver for home.
The wonder of a second wind boosts me onward.

Deeply breathing now in anticipation of the final, sprinting dash towards the imaginary winners ribbon stretching, heart a-pounding we race.
The dog, no longer lazy, and I, plunge headlong
Crossing,
and then slowing to a stop.
Exhilarated, and feeling good.

Harlan.
