My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.
So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.

Where in the Constitution does it say gays have a right to marry? Besides, they do have the right to marry as long as it is a person of the opposite sex. Read the dictionary for the word marriage.
If you are a Christian how can you vote and still support your decision to vote for someone who feels it's not a child but a choice. Remember Jesus said not to harm the children or to keep them away from Him....isn't abortion the ultimate I'm God attitude? Babies are killed and kept from knowing their God in a life that only He can create....What God creates we have no right to destroy...that human life is God's gift to all.
Kerry hates America....you supported his hate for all Christian ideals. Do you really believe Jesus would have voted for someone who lies as Kerry does? Do you think it was Christian for Kerry to use the F work publicly in a magazine interview. Do you believe Kerry was the example to set before our children as a Christian? As a Catholic, he can't receive Communion in some churches.
As a Christian how could you support a candidate that is honored in the Communist Hall of Fame? A man that even now is overseas visiting our troops telling them what a piece of sh#$ they are...wrong war, wrong time, etc.
I'm sorry but I would ask God's forgiveness for supporting someone who is so against our Lord's example. The vietnam vets on this board have been violated again in your name.

The gal who posted this thread was crying out "Please don't hate me!", so I did an image search on the term "don't hate me" (including the quotes) just to see what would come up. The image I end up choosing is often completely unrelated to what I originally had in mind (as in this case). :-)
Mainly because FR is -- by the decision of the site owner -- a gathering place for reasonably likeminded conservatives to hash out their similarities and differences without having to worry about sniper fire on their left flank.

Hey, they've had a few setbacks lately. US Aid to tsunami victims, CBS firings, Kerry officially Lost, Kerry overseas while Boxer whines before Congress, etc. They're still shellshocked from Nov 2nd.
