Word For The Day, Monday, 1/25/05Date
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
brobdingnagian
adj
1: huge; relating to or characteristic of the imaginary country of Brobdingnag [syn: Brobdingnagian] 2: unusually great in size or amount or degree or especially extent or scope; "huge government spending"; "huge country estates"; "huge popular demand for higher education"; "a huge wave"; "the Los Angeles aqueduct winds like an immense snake along the base of the mountains"; "immense numbers of birds"; "at vast (or immense) expense"; "the vast reaches of outer space"; "the vast accumulation of knowledge...which we call civilization"- W.R.Inge [syn: huge, immense, vast, Brobdingnagian]
[After Brobdingnag, a country in Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift, where everything was enormous.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!
Here is my example with WFTD.
A more brobdingnagian witch than Babs Boxer does not exist. Witchiness combined with lack of brains and no looks to speak of, makes for a VERY unappealing package!

No pushing at the door please!
i know it's cold, but you still gotta go to school! no delayed arrival, no cancellation for snow, nothing. get up!
1?
bah!
Ugh.
First?
Hey LE!
Ya brongdabigone with this mornin'? (Or is he still sleepin' in?)
He's already at work..no sleepin in for him!
yes truthy you are! but you are always #1 with me : )
A+++ and those graphics on the pic are perfect!
oh well, time flies when you are having fun! if it is still the 24th where you are, i guess you aren't having as much fun ; )
Morning! I'll turn in my classwork, then I'm off to see a customer-
Whining Barbara Boxer says today
She was victimized by Condi Rice
But from what I saw, I think she was
Just slammed for being not nice
But isn't she typical of the left
In all their koolaid delusion?
Blaming the VRWC for everything
From earthquakes to their confusion
Their brobdingnagian conspiracy theories
Get more huge with every telling
And the more some one like her talks
The worse it all starts smelling
since you brought it up and i am bound to hear about it all day, Mod can you please fix the date on this thread to match today's date? : ) thanks!
A+++ Babs, apparently, does not know when to quit!
A snowdrift of brobdingnagian proportions has sealed off my road. The kids and I left for work at 5:45...and got home again at 5:50. (yes, am.) There is a little car stuck like a turtle in the snowdrift that is my road. I keep watching cars drive up (mostly 4x4's of which, my Honda Accord is not) and turn around. I have cabin fever really really really (like, brobdingnagian) bad since I was stuck home last week due to illness.
A poest by night,
With verse that takes flight,
And witty, unorthodox sayings...
But now comes a time,
A brobdingnagian rhyme,
An arrhythmic sound dragon for slaying...
This morn I'll not hunt,
Instead I will punt,
And not rhyme that beasty, brobdingnagian!!!
oh you poor thing! i know that cabin fever feeling, i was determined that we would go to Mass yesterday no matter what. and i was only stuck in the house on Sat. you have got to be going loony, esp with those little'uns!
