In the AP article Bush Declares Iraq Election a Success, President Bush declared, "The world is hearing the voice of freedom from the center of the Middle East." The article continues, "Bush praised the bravery of Iraqis who turned out to vote despite continuing violence and intimidation. Bush said voters 'firmly rejected the antidemocratic ideology' of terrorists."
Yet, President Bush seems to forget that the very ideology of terrorism is one that he praised in his Inaugural address.
He stated, "Self-government relies, in the end, on the governing of the self. That edifice of character is built in families, supported by communities with standards, and sustained in our national life by the truths of Sinai, the Sermon on the Mount, the words of the Koran, and the varied faiths of our people." Yet, the words of the Koran do not preach peace, democracy, or self-government.
In Sura II.161 it states, "Surely those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers, these it is on whom is the curse of Allah and the angels and men all;
In Sura IX. 5-6: Kill those who join other gods with God wherever you may find them.

Yes, today is a victory for the Iraqi people. They have been freed from the dictatorship of Saddam, but will they be liberated from the idealology that holds them captive?
he's not just full of himself . . . . .
Uh, because the Sadaam regime was an absolute direct front line foe of Israel, paying suicide bombers, and in the first Gulf War, attacking Israel with missiles. Because Israel wants a secular non-Iran style democratic government to take hold in Iraq. Because an Iraq aligned with the U.S. is not a threat to Israel. Because we have 150,000 troops in Iraq and this is the process WE helped design for the Iraqis to follow.
Never ceases to amaze me how doctrinaire some people can be. We defeated the Sadaam regime, we are presently occupying Iraq, and Iraq is following the course we selected including fighting the terrorists. And you want us to "not support" this Iraq government, which would result in a radical anti Israel terrorist state.
The majority of Iraqis who voted today are Muslims.
Peaceful Muslims, it would appear.
Be careful,......... the poster has included his comments and not the FULL article!
No, but according to his bio, he is a nationally acclaimed debater and speaker...
It's all the same thing. No point in making unnecessary distinctions...
another master debater...well whoop-de-doo :)
--It's all the same thing. No point in making unnecessary distinctions...--
HA! I stand gratefully corrected.
Nope, but his bio page would indicate he may not be a troll....
yeah, someone isn't quite with the program yet.
and only 18 too...you must realize the Masters and Johnson studies concluded that 18 year old men and 40 something women were at their sexual peak because they orgasmned most quickly...just means 18 year old boys don't know what they're doing, and 40 year old women do... :)

I absolutely agree...many of the Islamic Iraqis are peaceful, in fact, I would think that only a minority of Muslims are violent. However, in my post, I wanted to stress the fact that when you analyze the doctrine of Islam, at its core, it promotes violence. I do realize the distinction between pure doctrine, and those who profess to follow doctrine.
Indeed it would. Few would dispute the fact that peaceful Muslims do exist.
I was referring to the folks who maintain that the religious document of Islam promotes peace. ...and democracy. It doesn't.
Yes, impressive profile, I say we should be patient, we may have a good recruit here ......
I'm a 40 something woman...and I finally feel like I know what I'm doing! Glad to know science backs me up!
We'll be patient, but won't put up with a patronizing pedant....especially one young enough to be my kid.
if he survives until adulthood.
Welcome to FR.
Another radical anti-Muslim, anti-President Bush FR to put up with?
Which just goes to show that most Muslims ignore the violent recommendations in the Koran. I have a Muslim neighbor, and his Imam tells them the "kill the infidel" portions of the Koran were written for a long-dead time, and are no longer part of Islam.
