Re-live the pain and suffering of DU on election night!

Posted on 02/12/2005 9:48:04 PM PST by Next_Time_NJ

Sometimes when its late at night, I like to look back on election night. I love to go over to DU and relive the pain and sorrow they went through. Call me crazy, but I love to watch the pain they go through during those hours. It just so happens that DU's archives are still open. All the way back ti Nov 2nd. Watch as they feel they are going to win the election (early exit polls), all the way to total melt down - when they know it’s lost. Its such a good feeling. I think everyone on this site needs to go there and read those posts. Its so much fun.

<<loyal reader, sir; probably one of the biggest fans of P.J.--but just to dadgummed involved in income-tax work at the moment to do much more than just read, without comment.

<<have been so busy have not even prowled through the cesspool of intestinally-processed corn lately, nor posted over there for more than a week.

<<hope to be back at adding my inadequate "witticisms" (quotation marks intentional) in a couple of weeks or so.

Dang it, double post, and to add more flubberbegit to that, I mistook this for the DUmmie FUnnies. But still good reading, about election night 2004.....and I'm sure we're going to be seeing the DUmmies defoliate on election night 2006 too.

Or would challenging the consensus as an open conservative just get you banned?

Not only does it get you immediately banned, but they go back and erase any posts you made previously. You beome an un-person.

Wow. I'll bet I viewed 30 of their pages. The downward spiral from about 7 pm through the wee hours was a treat to view. I'm sure that they had whiplash going from the ecstasy of exit polls to the agony and anguish of REALITY. Didja know that there will be no elections in 2008? It's true. DU said so!

Oh definitely yes. You can't color too far outside the lines at DU.

One long time poster over there started a thread to the effect that "Bush is evil, corrupt and hateful, but he's not REALLY equivalent to Hitler" - and the responses were about 95% to the effect that yes, he is. One had the feeling that only the original poster's longevity kept him from being banned.

I still have a userid over there - tried to build my post count by posting to the non-political forums. But it's another sign of the shaky mental health at DU that there are so few non-political discussions. The poor things seem to have no interests whatsoever in life other than ideology and political power.

Don't forget though that signing up on FR, and throwing up a first post supporting a liberal position will get you a pretty fast zot.

True, but it won't get all of your posts erased from existence. Ridiculed yes, erased no.

At DU you can post nonthreatening posts for months but then if you post anything remotely conservative all of your posts will be immediately erased.

That is a big difference between conservative and liberal websites. We like to make fun of them. They are scared of us.

You also want to go to the Air America archives and download the shows for Nov 3rd - I especially recommend the Mike Malloy show.

I listened to the whole thing. I don't know if I should thank you or reach into my screen and slap you - but it's not you, you only pointed to it.

That is one of the most vile things I've ever heard. Folks, if you really want to know what the Left thinks of us listen to this show - listen to the whole thing. The first segment is weak, but then he heats up.

Honestly, if the Right were producing this kind of stuff they would be tarred, feathered and vilified for life. They would NEVER WORK AGAIN. Enjoy.

(grin) Yeah, Mikey has that effect on normal people.

I do download his show a couple times a month - it's not so much schadenfreude as it is the comfort it provides that no matter what misfortunes may ever befall me, there will always be at least one person on the planet more miserable than I am.

Now if you ever want to hear a left-winger who is funny, try the Neil Rogers show from Miami.

...miserable...

That's too charitable. Mike Malloy's soul is being gnashed by hellhounds.

Is a "zot" a ...

1) banning, as in you become an "un-person"?
2) does the moderator rebuke you publicly/privately/both?
3) your post gets deleted?

That would be so fun! I didn't think to vidiotape the election. Is there anywhere a person could get a video tape or DVD of the election?

AFAIK from occasional observations, If you start off your posting career with a comment that's doctrinaire liberal, you get (3) and usually (1).

I imagine if you would write to the GOP or go to the www.whitehouse.gov website you would be able to purchase a tape. Check it out.
