I was just reading Article 2 of James Madison & Ben Franklin's opus magnus and started counting the number of times that masculine gender is indicated. Hmmm, I doesn't appear that Hildabeast (or "Law of the Sea" Condi for that matter) can even be president.:

I knew of a Garren Gribble from Wisconsin. He is in jail for the murder of a toddler I believe. Any relation? He had a brother Dale.
LOL! Noob :-)
Gee, thanks.
Well, president, y'know, big deal. How can we revoke all the women's drivers licenses?
(ducking for cover)
'Nuff said.
Welcome to Free Republic!
The masculine gender is used to reference both men and women. Or at least that was the case until the feminists came along.
It is proper grammar to refer to an individual of indeterminate gender (or to refer to individuals from a large group) in the masculine. Think "he or she" if it makes you feel better.
LOL!! Nicely, albeit not particularly diplomatically, put.
This wasn't posted by Dale Gribble, this was posted by Rusty Schakelford.
