There's a tear in your eye, and I'm wondering why
For it never should be there at all.
With such power in your smile, sure a stone you'd beguile
So there's never a teardrop should fall.
When your sweet lilting laughter's like some fairy song,
And your eyes twinkle bright as can be;
You should laugh all the while and all other times, smile,
And now smile a smile for me.
When Irish eyes are smiling, sure it's like a morn in spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter, you can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright and gay,
And when Irish eyes are smiling, sure they steal your heart away.
For your smile is a part of the love in your heart,
And it makes even sunshine more bright.
Like the linnets sweet song, crooning all the day long,
Comes your laughter so tender and light.
For the springtime of life is the sweetest of all,
There is ne'er a real care or regret;
And while springtime is ours throughout all of youth's hours,
Let us smile each chance we get.
When Irish eyes are smiling, sure it's like a morn in spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter, you can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright and gay,
And when Irish eyes are smiling, sure they steal your heart away.
In Dublin's fair city
Where girls are so pretty
Twas there that I first met
Sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh"
Alive, alive oh, alive, alive oh,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh"
She was a fishmonger
But sure t'was no wonder
For so were her father
And mother before
They each
Wheeled a barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh"
Alive, alive oh, alive, alive oh,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh"
She died of a faver
And nothin' could save her
And that was the end
Of sweet Molly Malone
Her ghost
Wheels a barrow
Through streets
Broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh"
Her ghost cries
"Cockles and mussels..."
Maxwelton's braes are bonnie,
Where early fall's the dew,
And it's there that Annie Laurie
Gave me her promise true.
Gave me her promise true,
Which ne'er forgot will be,
And for bonnie Annie Laurie
I'd lay me doon and dee.
Her brow is like the snowdrift,
Her throat is like the swan,
Her face it is the fairest,
That 'er the sun shone on.
That 'er the sun shone on.
And dark blue is her e'e,
And for bonnie Annie Laurie
I'd lay me doon and dee.
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come you back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
Yes, I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
For you will bend tell me that you love me
And I simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
How are things in Gloucmora?
Is that little brook still leaping there?
Does it still run down to Donny-cove?
Through Killy-begs, Kilkerry and Kildare?
How are things in Gloucmora?
Is that willow tree still weeping there?
Does that lassie with the twinklin' eye
Come whistlin' by and does she walk away,
Sad and dreamy there not to see me there?
So I ask each weeping willow
And each brook along the way,
And each lass that comes a sighin'
"Too-ra-lay"
How Are Things In Gloucmora
This fine day?
How are things in Gloucmora?
Is that little brook still leaping there?
Does it still run down to Donny-cove?
Through Killy-begs, Kilkerry and Kildare?
How are things in Gloucmora?
Is that willow tree still weeping there?
Does that lassie with the twinklin' eye
Come smilin' by and does she walk away,
Sad and dreamy there not to see me there?
So I ask each weepin' willow
And each brook along the way,
And each lass that comes a sighin'
"Too-ra-lay"
How Are Things In Gloucmora
This fine day?
I'll take you home again, Kathleen
Across the ocean wild and wide
To where your heart has ever been
Since first you were my bonnie bride.
The roses all have left your cheek.
I've watched them fade away and die
Your voice is sad when e'er you speak
And tears deep in your loving eyes.
Oh! I will take you back, Kathleen
To where your heart will feel no pain
And when the fields are fresh and green
I'II take you to your home again!
Over in Killarney, many years ago,
My Mother sang a song to me
In tones so sweet and low.
Just a simple little ditty,
In her good old Irish way.
And I'd give the world if she could sing
That song to me this day.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.
Oft' in dreams I wander
To that cot again,
I feel her arms a-huggin' me
As when she held me then.
And I hear her voice a -hummin' to me
As in days of yore,
When she used to rock me fast asleep
Outside the cabin door.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.
A long time ago when the Earth was green,
There was more kinds of animals then you've ever seen.
They'd run around free while the Earth was being born.
But the loveliest of them all was the Unicorn!
There was green alligators and long necked geese,
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn!
Now God seen some sinnin' and it gave Him pain.
And He says, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain.
He says, "Hey brother Noah, I'll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo, and take some of them
"Green alligators and long necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
Don't you forget My unicorns!"
Old Noah was there to answer the callin'
He finished up making the ark just as the rain started fallin'
He marched in the animals two by two
And he called out as they went through
"Hey Lord, I've got you green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord,
I'm so forlorn I just can't see no unicorn"
Then, Noah looked out through the drivin' rain,
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games
Kicking and splashing while the rain was porin'
Oh, them silly unicorns.
There was green alligators and long necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Noah cried, "Close the door 'cause the rain is fallin'
And we just can't wait for no unicorns"
The ark started movin', it drifted with the tide,
Them unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away
That's why you never seen unicorns to this very day.
You'll see green alligators and long necked of geese,
Some humpty back camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born,
You're never gonna see no unicorn.

Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire -
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!

Close, but not quite....they are Silky Terriers (the yorkies' bigger, tougher and wilier cousin)
