Anyone else notice the 15 seconds or so of dead air that occured during Paul Harvey's show today?
I was listening to it on the way home for lunch. Paul let out a strange sigh right during the middle of a general steel commercial. Then, nothing for about 15 seconds.
I stopped the car and my heart raced. I was terrified that he suffered a stroke or something during his broadcast. Then he came back on the air, mentioning something about starting all over again. Then he made a comment about having a story in his hands that he just wanted to throw away?
And then? he started right over again with the general steel ad. Strange? I then thought the story had to be about Terri Shiavo dying, but nothing more than just that the Supreme Court had declined to review the case... again.
any thoughts?
Who is Paul Harvey?
I'm surprised he does it live.
I wonder who would have The Rest Of The Story?
You're kidding, right?
Radio news reader, about 200 years old.
I didn't think he did. Maybe he just didn't mind the sigh going out on the feed?
I listened to Paul for the first time in awhile last, and I barely recognized his voice, has he had a stroke recently?
He's this big rabbit that only Jimmy Stewart can see.
My apologies. I just needed to look at your profile to see that you might indeed not know.
It was the normal pause between Good...........................................................................Day
I was ins the shower and missed it. Oh well. Maybe I'll be there for one of the other 50 thousand dead air screw ups on the radio daily.
I'm sure some other Freepers will give you The Rest of The Story.
In the meantime............Good Day!
Paul Harvey has broadcast a daily news show since at least the 1960s. He's a great broadcaster, and does an uplifting and accurate broadcast. He also supports the Boy Scouts, and Hillsdale College, one of the few accredited colleges that takes NO Federal money, advertises on his show regularly.
My thought was that the story he "wanted to throw away" was the Supreme Court decision regarding Teri Schaivo. The man has a very tender heart towards those needing help.
Paul Harvey also had a STINGING message against Kerry the day before the last election.
Something about a hypocryte glorifying his war record after saying bad things about that war and his fellow soldiers.
Actually, that was my first thought!
