Jennifer Wilbanks (Runaway Bride) might be charged with Violation of GA laws
Fox News | May 02, 2005

Press Conference just concluded:

According to the Duluth Police Chief, Jennifer purchased bus ticket for Austin TX a week before to take her on the 26th to Austin, TX. She rode the bus and then changed the bus to Dallas TX, then onto Las Vegas for a few days. Then she took another bus to New Mexico. Then contacted her fiancee, collect. When the Duluth GA Chief of Police spoke with her on the phone she did say she had been kidnapped (and gave details). Up to that point the sheriff said she had not broken any laws. Giving a false statement to the authorities in this type of situation is considered a felony in Georgia.

There was also much discussion about a cab that she called to get to the bus station, cut her hair with sissors, etc. She was still wearing the clothing she left in. The articles of clothing that had been found were not hers.

She stated she had not been aware of the searching that was going on nationwide for her.

She had cut her hair in order to disguise her identity. (Wonder if that is the "clump" of hair they have talked about finding in the area)

She stated she did plan on returning at some time, but could not state when that time would have been.

Police investigator says she is answering all questions and seems coherant now.

Police Chief deferred to the DA, Danny Porter, regarding Jennifer's "kidnapping" statement and what legal charges might be brought. Porter stated GA law will permit a prosecution, but he added it will be at his discretion to decide to prosecute or not. He is reviewing the facts. The DNA testing (on the clump of hair, I assume) has been called off, however.

The city might prosecute separately for the money spent on the search.

Oh my, do I have a real problem with this woman! She is obviously from the "it's all about me," philosophy. A big wedding about her, eight showers about her, a laundry list of gifts wanted at where the couple was registered, including china at over $1,000 per place setting (they asked for 12), and a Waterford Crystal bowl at over $200. Then, after living with this man for years, she has fears...and, again - it's all about "HER!"

I am sorry, but this woman does not love anyone but herself. She has been living a lie and when faced with reality, could not find it in herself to be truthful and act like an adult. She ran away like the little child who stole cookies. She is not sick, she is not parinoid, she is simply a selfish coward and needs to own up to the fright, anguish, and trouble she has caused.

Sure her fiancee and family want everyone to forgive her. But that is because they just want to sweep this under the rug and hope everyone forgets that they raised an irresponsable, spoiled daughter.

I hope the fiance gets a public apology from not only the family but the law enforcement agancy that wanted a polygraph. Next, she needs to pay for every member of law enforcement that was looking for her. The whole hing makes me sick. Kind of like when someone calls 911 when there isnt an emergency.

I have no problem with this woman other than recognizing the fact she needs counseling. My only problem is the media that is keeping this crap alive.........

10 years ago the headline would have read "Missing woman found in New Mexico admits to having cold feet regarding her upcoming wedding"...... In other news.........

I have to agree, ten years ago, even if she had maliciously calculated a scheme, cut her hair off, bought a ticket in advanced, had cold feet, had wealthy parents to support her selfish act..they wouldnt have said anything more then "Missing woman found" however, (not a huge fan of MSM) I hope she gets treated today the same way they would have ten years ago. She cried WOLF..now she needs to pay for the phone call.

Attractive? You must be joking!

However, I agree with the other poster above who said that 10 years ago, without the media hype, this would not have been a big story. The trouble is that it has become a big story...and is out there as an example. Our children should not see that anyone can tell lies, hurt others, have total disregard for being mature, responsible adults, and just be totally self-serving. This is not the type of children we want to raise. This is why we have such trouble in the world. Everyone wants to do their own "thing" - even if it means telling a lie - and then expect that if someone gets upset, they should get over it. No one wants to accept the consequences of their own actions anymore.

I agree!!! You have to be held liable for your actions. Our children learn what they see and what the hear. I wish the media would drop his story. watch...next week People will feature her. Makes me ill.

As I stated on another thread, I have a hypothesis:

Jennifer went to Las Vegas in order to meet another beau and have a "quickie" wedding. The other beau got scared off by all of the "missing person" media reports and went running.

Jennifer was left in Vegas with very little money and was only able to make it to New Mexico before calling authorities.

Thoughts?

Jennifer Wilbanks (Runaway Bride) might be charged with Violation of GA laws

This darling brown eyed lassie is just not thinking clearly. If she had been smart she would have blown off the "I was abducted by an Hispanic male and white woman in a blue van" rap.

She should have told the coppers that she was abducted by black/vacant eyed ALIENS, and these aliens told her in coded language that they wanted her hair for DNA and reproductive purposes. Voila, she could have avoided all her troubles with the law enforcement folks.

;-)
