~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XX
May 8, 2005 | bentfeather Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

It was wonderful. I don't get to see the whole crew that often anymore. Everyone is working and they do have their own lives.

LOL on the twig!!!

Dawn, comes too soon,
and wakes me with glare,
knowing I'd rather sleep till noon!

I slept to noon one lonely day,
so I snuggled in the hay and watched
a spider spin a web into a silken pillow for my head.

Lazy moments filled my head
as I lay sleeping like a log
upon my ancient feather bed

Dawn . . . fluffy pillow under my head
Comfy quilt upon my bed
Aw rats . . . I gotta pee!!! . . . ;-)

I pry myself up, eyes closed
staggering along the wall
hope I remember which turn along the hall

The hall was black there is no wall
I think I'll take a giant fall
into a huge and swirling black hole

Now I lay in the first floor hall
and still I have to pee
This is just not my day at all!

Now this was fun, thanks for joining in!

ROTFLMAO!!

That's for the inspiration!

Addendum:

On the floor I find me
looking upward toward the sea of black
and wanting sleepless nights, no respite there for me

Good morning, good afternoon!

Looking back over the group poem, I have to say there is some real gifted folks here. You all are fun to read, and thanks again for such fun.

Ms. Feather

Your late addition was a hoot! Clearly your mind is both gifted and just a bit warped. A lovely combination.

LOL What the hell do you mean?? Yes, we are fortunate to have very gifted talented poets in The Lair. And your presence adds so much to the group. Thank You, Johnn.

He promised to be with me forever
until the end of time, somewhere
there is a place for us... on a far
and distant star, one maybe not yet born

The Promise, The Oath, held together
in hearts by the precious jewel of hope
the fragile mesh of a dragonflie's wing
the lightness of a Fae and the strength of
blue tempered steel...

We wait until the first time
ever I saw his face I knew there
would never be another one for me.

They

She a woman of urban ways,
He, a self-made man of iron will.
She, set love upon their days,
He needed her beyond kens fill.

She, all softness, gentle spirit fair,
He, iron formed but all is hidden.
She, a woman of open heart and care,
He, warrior bred, his fire easily bidden.

She, gives love in open manner clear,
He, holds it in, his armor of the heart.
She, understood and still held him dear,
He, understood and stayed, to be a part.

She, smiled and accepted him as he was,
He, held her in his center, the strength of him.
She, left the tiger free, and he stayed because,
He, knew home was with her so gentle and slim.

She, is all and everything to the iron man,
He, the other half of her soul, her mate.
She, is happy, her needs echo his, passion’s fan,
He, burns with her, and both hold tight, needs to sate.

Opposites, or equals, who rules who, and why,
Both, reflect the other with details engraved.
Each, the shelter of the other until time dies,
Same in many ways, aching as one, love’s enslaved.

"Perfect in every way.

And it is my fun to leave one here for you to find.

Well, I'm off, (in so many ways), have to go sell tickets for the steamboat museum I belong to. [Where else can I get to volunteer and to engineer on a 100 year old steam boat? Come check it out at www.steamboatminnehaha.org and see what fun I'm up to. ;^) ]

Scent of Summer

Smell of hot concrete, metal and tar
hint of fresh mowed grass
perfume of rain, sunshine and roses
-is the scent of summer.

Stepping one foot within each square
of narrow, hand poured walks
leaving wet barefoot impressions
-is the image of summer

Warbles and chirps, twitters and caws
wafting from leafy boughs
the barking of squirrels at prowling cats
-is the music of summer

Warm sudden wind of approaching thunder
electricity charging the air
caress of cool rain refreshing the earth
-is the touch of summer

Through all my senses runs a thread of time
tinged with the memory

of summer.
