Magician Penn Jillette a father to Moxie CrimeFighter

NEW YORK — Comedian/magician Penn Jillette's has a new sidekick — a baby girl.

Jillette, 50, and his wife Emily, 39, welcomed 6-pound, 6-ounce Moxie CrimeFighter Jillette on Friday, according to publicist Glenn Schwartz. It was the first child for the couple, who married last year.

"We chose her middle name because when she's pulled over for speeding she can say, 'But officer, we're on the same side,'" Jillette explained. "'My middle name is CrimeFighter.'"

His show sidekick — the typically mute Teller — had no comment on the new arrival.

Penn & Teller currently star in their own series on Showtime, and headline nightly in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino

You think that's a cute name now, but just wait until you try to find a personalized toothbrush.

If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was describing what an American magician had named a child in his control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of an American in the naming of his child.

Can't people just give their newborns normal names? Molly? Donna? Charlotte?

Some people really need to be chemically (or otherwise) castrated well before they reach puberty.

The hell this poor child will suffer because of her fathers idiocy just boggles the mind.

And I thought "Apple" was a weird name for a child.

That middle name reminds me of George Costanza's thought of using 6 as a name.

Actually, I'd rather be named Moxie than Molly.

Either way, she'll probably end up asking her friends to call her "Liz".

Ah, it has been named after a health drink bottled in Maine, Moxie.

If any of you knew Penn, you may know that this is probably a joke of some kind.

BTW, he is one of the most conservative people in the entertainment business and did an interview for "Michael Moore Hates America." He is a genuinely nice guy.

Really, didn't Penn used to be more of a libertarian? I remember that he didn't like the Clintons.

I'm with you. He probably either a) didn't really do it, or b) plans on changing it.

Saw their show once. It was incredible.

He's definately one of the good guys. People should cut him some slack. And I like the idea of instilling in a girl that she can fight crime, not just be a passive victim of it. I hope to someday name a daughter T. CrimeFighter Trueblood.
