LOS ANGELES - Leonardo DiCaprio was hit with a bottle while attending a Hollywood party given by Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend and needed about a dozen stitches to close a wound near his ear, People Magazine reported on its Web site.
The magazine said DiCaprio was at a party at about 4 a.m. Friday at the home of Rick Salomon when a woman struck him with what appeared to be a beer bottle. No ambulance was called but friends took the actor to a hospital where he received about a dozen stitches, People said.
Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee, a department spokesman, could not immediately confirm the report.
"I have received no notification of that sort. That doesn't mean that nothing happened, but normally we would get those kind of notifications here," Lee said.
A call to DiCaprio's spokesman, Ken Sunshine, was not immediately returned, but People said the spokesman had confirmed the assault.
"While leaving a small private gathering, Leo was attacked by a woman who was trespassing and had been repeatedly asked to leave the property," Sunshine told the magazine. "The attacker struck him with a glass object before being restrained by witnesses."
The attack was not expected to affect DiCaprio's work on a Martin Scorsese movie, "The Departed," which is shooting in Boston and New York, People said.
My thought during watching Titanic was, "just sink already."
I was so happy when that thing hit the iceberg...I was thinking to myself "wow, time is flying" as I knew it was a 3 hour movie.
Sadly, that was just the end of the beginning, not the beginning of the end.
There is only one Pearl Harbor movie, and it's called Tora! Tora! Tora!
This is California. If it was him throwing bottles he'd be acquitted, but since she perpetrated an assault against a celebrity, she'll get 20 years.
THAT was a good movie!
I was not able to suspend my disbelief for even one second.
The story was absolutely implausible, especially when you consider the times.
I remain among the few lucky people on planet Earth who have not seen Titanic. I won!
They couldn't find a sinking ship to take him down with?
"He ain't pretty no more."
I guess he's not the "King of the World" now.
It is also the most historically accurate, as well as best acted. A great film.
Me too. Back when it was being over hyped, I vowed never to see it, despite pressure from girlfriends. I still got subjected to that crappy song way too many times though.
Yeah -- the song was completely unavoidable. But we beat that movie & it feels good. ~dance~
