Preserve, hell. It's already dead.

We need to talk about ways to restore it.

1. For one, we'll need to overturn Civil Forfeiture.
2. Call off the War on Drugs.
3. Get rid of the Patriot Act.
4. Repeal the 17th amendment.
5. Get rid of Socialist Security.
6. Do away with the court's belief they can regulate every part of our life by merely invoking the Commerce Clause.
7. Do away with CFR.
8. Declare that eminent domain is not to be used for private non-government projects.
9. Tattoo the Tenth Amendment on every legislator's forehead.
10. Repeal all existing gun laws.

Agreed. The Jedi were arrogant ("if we don't know of this planet, it doesn't exist"), lawless (attempting to assassinate the legally elected Chancellor), and ineffective (*failing* to assassinate the Chancellor when it was 4 against 1). I'll take a ruler who openly wields power rather than a gang of unaccountable vigilantes.

Maybe in a galaxy far away there will be a place for "moderates" like me, who, on the one hand, need to be morally strong toward issues that must be seen in "absolutes"; and on the other, approach other issues with a certain "nuance".

The Jedi in me says not everything is black and white. But the Sith in me says certain things are.

(Frankly, I have strong Empire leanings. I used to wear a Darth Vader T-shirt in my younger days. As long as an emperor can run a galaxy sanely and fairly, that's fine. But even an emperor needs checks & balances.)

The sun rises red on the horizon this morning...a sign of the trouble ahead resulting from the horrendous ruling by the SCOTUS yesterday. The SithLibs appear to have integrated into every aspect of controlling our lives.

I read an interesting article this morning. An excerpt follows. I wonder if this is how we must combat this breach on our rights of property ownership.

Excerpt begins...."Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker said Thursday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling on private property rights will not affect state homeowners because of protections in the state constitution.

Baker, in a statement released to media, said the Georgia Constitution and more than 100 years of state court precedent prevent condemnation for private purposes.

"Fortunately for Georgians, our state constitution and state judiciary have consistently held that condemnation for private purposes is not acceptable under state law, a position that will be unaffected by today’s federal court ruling," Baker wrote.

“Georgia will remain one of the few states in the nation where a homeowner will not lose the family home or farm to make way for a private development boondoggle," the statement read." .....excerpt ends.

Churches, mosques, synagogues and other nonprofit religious entities are considered especially at threat because they generate no tax revenue for cities, while developments like hotels or shopping malls are seen to be economic boons for urban renewal projects.

Just a peek into the ramifications of the recent SCOTUS ruling regarding eminent domain that will likely ripple throughout our lives here in the U.S. if the individual states to not enact appropriate legislation to amend their state constitutions to protect us against such.
