How to Report Possible Terrorist Threats (Vanity)
7/10/05 | Me

Posted on 07/10/2005 8:44:13 PM PDT by colorcountry

While driving through my neighborhood yesterday, I noticed three men in "dirty nightshirts" unloading boxes into a house. There is nothing inherently alarming with this, except for the fact that the home abuts a natural gas pipeline of huge proportions (transporting natural gas from Wyoming to California.) The pipeline also runs within a high-transmission powerline right-of-way. I don't know specifics on either the power or gas lines, but I know they both are SIGNIFICANT and supply California.

The home is isolated and less than 1/2 mile from a high school and 1/2 mile from a city-owned power plant. If I were a terrorist and wanted to do damage, this would be a prime location.............this leads me to my questions.

1. Am I being paranoid?

2. If not, whom should I call?

Contact the FBI.....Let them determine if it's significant.

Contact the FBI.....

I would contact the local police and see if they feel it's significant enough to contact the FBI.

I don't want the Sheriff to think I'm a nut. Really, can you imagine some middle age Gladys Cravits looking out her window and calling the cops!

But I keep asking myself how I would feel if something happened.

There's nothing at all wrong in being vigilant and calling the local FBI if you see anything suspicious.

Thanks, I was wondering if there was a web site. I searched yesterday, but didn't find one.

OK...so, basically, any time someone moves boxes in to a house near a gas or power line that is suspicious?

Think of it this way.

What if you report it to the authorities, and you're wrong about what you saw? They will check it out (or not) and absolutely nothing will happen.

But, what if you don't report it, and it later turns out you were right to be suspicious? Something will happen that you will have trouble living with.

Call the police. Better to be wrong than haunted.

Well...okay, so I'll admit to racial profiling. Is that a crime?

(I think it might be)

some middle age Gladys Cravits looking

BWAHAHAHAHA!  Good analogy!!

Don't feel stupid ...

Recently I was at an ATM and some guy came around the corner with a nylon mask on and walked right up to me.  We looked at each for a second and he walked off.  He stood a few feet away, obviously contemplating if he should try to rob me (I'm 6'2' and weigh about 220, he was about 5'11").  I approched him and asked what he wanted, he just grunted somthing and walked off, took off his mask and disappeared around the other corner.

I got into the car, called the Police and went into detail as to what happened.  They told me to wait until the Police arrive and tell them what transpired.

A few minutes later there was a commotion across the street and 3 guys had him tackled to the ground.

Seems he decided against robbing me and went and robbed an elderly gentleman at an ATM across the street.  Brave crook, wouldn't mess with me but robbed a weaker person.

100% true story.

So next time feel free to call ... you never know.

Our local police would knock on their door, ask if they were terrorist, and decide everything was OK.....

With something pretaining to national security...I'll stand by "Contact the FBI".

Crime, no. But I would imagine most people have to move boxes periodically.

And, to be honest, it would make more sense to not be living right next to your target.

it would make more sense to not be living right next to your target.

It also would "make more sense" not to be wearing the vest that contains the bomb when it goes off. Unfortunately this is the standard MO for terrorists.
