Tonight's Sci - Fi Listing:

7/6 - Firefly. Basically Sci-fi is showing repeats of Firefly and showing previews of the movie Serenity.

8/7 - Stargate SG1: Vala is on trial for a crime she comitted when she was a host to a goauld. Last weeks episode was a good one. More of a ha ha type of episode.

9/8 - Stargate Atlantis: They crash land on a planet where they offer the wraith prisoners for food (hmmmm). Lasts week ok...

10/9 - Battlestar Galatica: Finally Adama returns also the story is getting better. It looks Tigh is a weak fool.

I can't tell if I like the new BG yet. Know where I can find the pilot episodes?

You can put me on the list. I never watched Firefly until it started airing on Sci Fi. I didn't know it was possible to be even close to as good as Battlestar Galactica. Amazing show, great writing and performance. I just need to watch all episodes in time to go see Serenity.

Please anyone who can, TIVO Firefly. It helps with ratings info and maybe we can get another good SCI FI show showing on Sci FI Network with new episodes!

I'm Tivo-ing Firefly. Set up the Season Pass for it.

Does that really count in the ratings? I didn't realize that.

I'm one of the folks who never even *heard* of Firefly before SciFi started playing these. I'm addicted to SciFi's Friday night lineup, and thought I'd give this a try when I saw it on there.

It's awesome, as good as Stargate at it's best. Right up there with BSG.

I can't believe I missed this one the first time around.

Go to Amazon.com and search Battlestar Galactica.

I have the first season on pre-order

I have the UK version of the first BSG season on DVD. It's the same thing as the US. I also got the min-series from Bestbuy as well. $74 for the whole lot.

I must avoid spoilers - for the series since I just started watching it!

Be careful on the Browncoats forums then. There are even movie spoilers in the worst possible places.

Welcome to the 'Verse. Lots a room in our Sky. Just watch out for the Reavers and keep flyin'...

According to reviews I've read, the future US version will have more on the discs than the UK version plus you get the miniseries included.

I looked at the Best Buy UK version and I was >< this close to picking it up but decided to wait on the US release.

I'm guessing you get to see some Cylon T&A on the UK version, am I right?

I hate to tell you this, but when the US release of season one comes out in September, it'll be $40 - $45 for the set, which includes the miniseries on the first disc.

(And I know Best Buy is selling the UK version at the moment. Apparently the US release has more commentaries, extras, etc. on it.)

"Does that really count in the ratings? I didn't realize that."

Hmmm maybe I confused the issue.

There are the "STUPID Ratings" used by the OLD GUARD Media, then there are the NEW FACTUAL Ratings like TIVO.

Tivo is actual recordings and viewings by actual subscribers. No guestimates. No voodoo crap. Real solid numbers! So TIVO and DVR ratings are starting to make waves in the TV world.

Nielson is just crap, and vastly suspect in their procedures. Tivo and DVR are going to supplant their strangle hold on ratings numbers.

But Nielsen does a better job at finding those shows where people watch the commercials. 10 Million could watch Firefly on TiVo, but if only 20,000 see commercials, I suspect it wouldn't last too long.

What good is a rating if it doesn't tell you anything about what you can charge for advertising? Ideally, TiVo will figure out how to give you a brief commercial during the fast-forward.

Tivo/DVR is going to completely revolutionize the entire industry, I agree.

Every so often I watch a show at someone else's house, someone who doesn't have TIVO, and I catch myself reaching for a remote during commercials! Not to mention, you have to fit your bio-breaks into the commercial breaks!
