Burger King Creeps Me Out, Man!
Burger King | 10/25/05 | ltn72

Posted on 10/25/2005 11:19:54 AM PDT by pabianice

Has anybody else been, like, totally creeped-out by the recent Burger King ad series?

I mean, like, there's this guy waking up and standing silently next to him is as scary a sight as one is likely to encounter: a hulking Burger King with a frozen face, mouth open (to take a big bite?), staring silently at the poor guy. Ewww!

It's just one of a series of totally bizarre ads all featuring the sudden appearance of the Burger King right in, like, someone's face, like, out of nowhere.

I guess the idea is that when you are, like, hungry, you'll think of grabbing a burger from BK. But really, man. Who thought this series up? I mean, like, if I woke up and saw this thing standing next to my bed, my only throught would be to get my .357 out as fast as I could and, like, blow this ugly mofo back to the Ring of Hell from which it emerged.

Maybe these ads will spur gun sales. That would be way cool!

The first time I saw him intercept Bledsoe I didn't know what the hell was going on. Thougth it was one of those drunken fans on the field again. The tights are kind of repulsive, too.

The one that creeped my kids out more was this guy...

I kinda got a kick out of him and find myself humming the tune when I'm feeling upbeat. I wouldn't risk trying to repeat the dance though. I could seriously hurt myself...

Ronald McDonald is no less creepy, but without the charming self-awareness of his own creepiness that is so evident in the King's frozen expression of pained acceptance.

The King wants to be your friend, he wants to be invited into your home, but he knows he is creepy and it makes him lonely. So he creeps into your house and tries to give you free food.

He wants to be your friend. Even more than a friend, if you'll let him. That's what the perpetually open mouth signifies, if you know what I mean.

This thread is a gold mine. =D

The commercials that bother me are the BP ads

Yeah, BP saving the planet while earning record profits with their inflated gas prices.

Inflated gas prices makes us drive less and pollute less.....wow, a vast Left-wing conspiracy! *snicker*

The wife requires a number 4 (junior whopper) with cheese and bacon as part of her weekly maintenance.

Every time I have one with her I wish it just creep'd me out... It does other things to you too, especially your stomach.

That dumba$$ commercial is indeed creepy, but not as bad as the burgers themselves.

Actually, ignore my last post.

Homer was MR. PLOW, not the plow king.

Nw, you're right. My wife & I both think its creepy. The obvous mask makes him seem like a molester or perv or something.

I'm really glad I'm now addicted to "Batman Begins" and have not watched commercial tv since getting it.

I understand completely. ;-)

I somehow saw the king as a metaphor, a living soul trapped in a lifeless persona, clothed in grandeur and glory, but ultimately powerless to emote, express, or display anything but the static smile of one who knows not true joy, only its substitute - consumption of that which does not nourish.

Alas.

Another in a long series of bad choices for BK. This BK Stalker, chicken fries; the list goes on and on. Though they did stop with the gruel taco.

"Wake up with the King." I keep thinking this is an ad blitz developed by sodomites.

They moved from fashion to fast food...

If anyone can get to their Photoshop faster than me, we need to see Bubba standing over the poor guy's bed.

You know what fast food conspiracy I don't understand? The Taco Bell Chihuahua was literally in every car, every office, everyone knew about it and found it funny. Out of the blue, they pull one of the most appropriate and recognizable mascots off the air and replace them with the "i'm full" crapola that wouldn't even be funny if the actors were on fire. What marketing genius pulled the plug on that?

"Now, the Capitol One ads when the vikings are trying to fit in to modern society and the guy on the electrical pole gets zapped is pretty funny."

I still LOL every time I see the guy as an airline steward walking down the isle smacking people in the face with his morning star as he walks past.
