Music............Did the end start with Frank?

Fortunately, we still have Dylan, Young, Petty, Prine, Santana, Loretta and Allison Krause.

Liberace, Frank, Mel Torme, Ella, Sarah Vaughn, Billie, ...............oh.........the list goes on. They're all gone.

Meanwhile, there's good 'ol RAP music and Dave Matthews and blaha blah blah<YAWN> in some circles for the youngens.

So sad.

Has music died........is it Dying?

Should we all sing American Pie?

Who's left to carry on..........to carry on?

Yup, American music (non-rap) is doing just fine.

Check out some of the latest blues stuff. Queen Latifah (!) did a blues album that's killer, we've got Norah Jones, we've got LOTS of others.

When I think of "Frank" a completely different image comes to mind...

Did the end start with Frank?

The answer is yes! It died with Frank. Todays music sucks! No feeling! No originality! In 15 minutes its forgotten. With Frank, in 100 years people will still be listening to him! This was Franks world and we're here only for the ride!

God Bless you Chairman!

I could not agree more. Let's not forget Bing, too. Thankfully Bowie is still around. I'm all mixed with sadness.

There will always be new music hero's in the future to future generations. But Frank did have a way of crossing all generation gaps. Young and old alike loved his music.

Do you know that when he first started singing no one would listen? So they paid girls in the audience to swoon and cry and scream when he sang the first few times out? I for one am glad they did. Because he might have gone unnoticed if not for that. And we could have lost a music legend for lack of interest.

I wonder what Frank might be saying to Sony/BMG right about now...

Funny you should ask.....:-)

My Way
Co-written by Paul Anka & Frank Sinatra
As performed by Frank Sinatra
Hit # 27 on the Top 40 charts in 1969

And now, the end is near, and so I face, the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived, a life that's full, I've traveled each and every highway.
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention.
I did, what I had to do, and saw it through, without exemption.
I planned, each charted course, each careful step, along the byway,
and more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew,
When I bit off, more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up, and spit it out.
I faced it all, and I stood tall,
and did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried,
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing.
To think, I did all that, and may I say --- not in a shy way,
"Oh no, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things, he truly feels,
And not the words, of one who kneels.
The record shows, I took the blows ---
And did it my way!

I did it my way.

I love listening to the old standards, too. Only the best music is allowed in the truck, and there's at least one Sinatra loaded in the changer at all times.

It's not all dead, tough. There are lots of good folks in the Country Music business if one knows where to look.

Good on you for throwing in Bing Crosby. I look forward to his Christmas Special being aired on TV every year. Truly timeless.

I'm a child of the 60's and grew up listening to Sinatra...mom was a big fan. I paid her back by taking her to see him live at the Fox theater in Atlanta in the 80's. He's still one of my favorites.

Boomer, I just finished a Christmas song for our Troops. I was wondering, could you make a flash movie with it for them? It's just music. I used Acid to put it together.

I uploaded it to download.com about 20 minutes ago, God only knows how long it will take them to put it on my artist page. But it would be great to have a video of some sort for the troops. What do you think?

Who? Snoop? P Diddy? Sorry but music is dead! Its gearing towards the money and not the music! Its all image and no substance. I remember when I could turn on the radio and listen to artists like the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, or Smokey Robinson. Now they all are riff ripoff artists doing poor Dr. Suess riffing. Sad. I honestly cannot think of any music artist worth while since Frank died.

I'm crazy for Ralph something or other, can't remember the name Family Band. They are a black group and the leader plays the meanest steal guitar I have ever heard. They get me to jumping. I love their crazy new sound. But I can't ever remember their name. LOL!!

Michael Buble is a twenty-something crooner from Vancouver, BC.

He has the voice which, if widely heard will get him recognized.

Diana Krall is a pianist/vocalist that is also very good (wife of Elvis Costello). She did a CD as a tribute to Nat King Cole, including his band.

Younger people doing Sinatra era and style music, vey well.
