1957 time capsule, and no Stratocaster? Man, what a waste... To top it off, they left a Plymouth instead of a Chevy!
My father had a 1957 Plymouth Savoy company car ... battleship gray. He hated that car. If we had still lived near Tulsa at the time, he'd have helped them bury it.
They didn't ask me, since I was just a little kid--but if they were putting in useless crap, the very best would've been all the freebie goodies collected by attendees at the IPE at the Tulsa Fairgrounds.
Tulseytown was the "Oil Capital of the World" and the International Petroleum Exposition at the Tulsa Fairgrounds was like Mardi Gras. It went on for 10 days and everyone got out of school to go to it. Attendance was like 400,000 and oilies came from all over the world, like the OTC in Houston now.
They had parties, banquets, dances, teas, receptions, baseball games, golf tournaments, carnival rides, and drilling rigs! The advertising novelty people outdid themselves, too. I would bring home bags and bags of useless crap--some of it useful, too. Kids need desk paperweights! Yardsticks, measuring tapes, magnifying glasses, lighters, fishing gear, shot glasses, binoculars, you name it.
Now, THAT's what I would've put in a 1957 time capsule in Tulsa, OK! "The year Bill Skelly died."
Yes, it would be a mistake, because according to this website
the only V-8 engines available that year were a 277, two 301's, and a 318!
(But you're right--it a 392 would have been nice!)
Yeah, I love those old boats!
You know what'd be really cool? If some kind of reaction with the concrete made the air inside the vault highly acidic and when they opened it, there's only be a fine pile of residue left.
Then, as everyone is scratching their heads, the giant ants' trap will spring. They will spew forth from the vault, ripping the heads off all the nearby spectators. People for miles will hear this creepy clicking noise and the end will have begun.
Ill be sure to get my orkin man ready in '07.
The car in Christine was a Fury, not a plain-jane Belvedere.
I wonder what condition those coins from the purse are in.
That thing has better tires and glass than a lot of cars in Az.
I bet it could tell a few stories.
It reminds me of my 1st car.
I can not say I remember them cars since I was not YET BORN
But I have heard enough about that time Capsule since I live only 24 miles form Tulsa...lol
It sounds neat to me, but they should have thrown in more things.
Why so little , did'nt that car come with a TRUNK??? LOL
