Shelley, a/k/a SHR Sumo's CoDoz Brown Bombshell, OA, OAJ, AD

Finny, Trina, and Nifi, a/k/a Chalaht's Finn MacCoul of HyBrasil, Catananda Catriona of HyBrasil, and Chalaht's Magnificat of HyBrasil. They are much too proud to earn any titles (and disinclined to work that hard for a mere human.)

I never said Logan's registered name out loud, and I was almost too embarrassed to show him. :~D

I got him as an adult, so he was already named.

I'm happy to report that none of my cats or dogs have had such 'common' names. sniff

Patches, Redford, Benji, Sikoshi, Aphrodite, Crybaby, Mouse, Luna, Merlin, Pearl, Olive & Xena

My breeder had a list of names for the pups in the litter -- I had to choose one from the list.

The remaining alternatives were Lady Godiva and Chocolate Cheese . . . ugggh!

If I had had the naming of her, I was thinking about naming her after one of the Furies - Alecto ("unceasing"), Megaera ("the jealous"), and Tisiphone ("avenging") - or one of the Harpies - Aello, the breaking storm (Podarge - fleet of foot) or Celaeno, whose wings darken the sky before a storm (Ocypete - swift of wing).

I can just imagine the "gate" calling THOSE names out to the scorekeeper and timer! (I worked gate pretty much continually through the last trial.)

I like Brown Bombshell! It has spunk!... but why those names? The only breeders I've known with naming requirements involved naming according to the letter of the alphabet that corresponds to the litter number, i.e. first litter=A names, Second litter=B names... and so on.

When I bought her, I was so ignorant I had no idea but that was what the breeder wanted. I could ask the breeder why, I guess . . . but she had a typed up list of names, and the pups that were already sold had names crossed off the list.

I think Brown Bombshell actually fits her pretty well, because she is a looker and she's full of energy - certainly better than Lady Godiva (she's no lady, even though she has no clothes on), and Chocolate Cheese is just right out . . .

In the South, at least, it used to be traditional for hunting dogs to have classical (Greek or Latin) names. I don't think the tradition is followed any more, a lot of them seem to have rednecky/ country music sort of names now. Just got my Hunting Retriever News with the report on the Grand, and one of the winning dogs was somebody-or-other's That Thang's Got a Hemi. Made me laugh.

Luscious? For a Lab?

That breeder should be arrested for general bad taste.

We had a defendant in a burglary case named Luscious.
