ATTENTION: LIFETIME HAS TAKEN YOUR CHANNELS AWAY! You may have tuned in today to see the Lifetime Channel or the Lifetime Movie Network.
Unfortunately, DISH Network's contract with Lifetime Networks expired on December 31st and we no longer have the legal right to carry these channels.
I can assure you that at DISH Network we have made every effort to renew our agreement and continue to carry these channels.
However, Lifetime Networks have demanded a rate increase of over 70 percent which would result in unreasonable rate increases for you, our customers.
While we were surprised by Lifetime Networks outrageous demand, the fact that we have had a good relationship with them for 10 years gives us hope that we can reach a fair agreement.
Until such time as we have a new contract with Lifetime Networks, I hope you will enjoy this free preview of The Women's Entertainment channel.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience.
We appreciate your support and encourage your feedback.
Thank you for being a DISH Network customer.
Sincerely, Charlie Ergen, CEO of DISH Network

No more Lifetime channel? What ever will Meredith Baxter-Birney do now?
I'm not counting on it, and I'm sick about it.
They-meaning from Mr. Charlie Ergen down-lied about their switch to MPEG-4. And their lie was part of a deliberate attempt to entice me and thousands like me to spend big bucks (for me anyway) to buy the Dish 942.
But, they'll just write me and the other "bleeding edge" types off to what they call "churn."
They don't care if we leave, they're just glad they got a chance to fleece us on the way out the door.
Yep. In Liftime Movie world all men are either brutal abusive stalkers, or pathetic wimps.
You and me both. Most TV today is about the worst waste of time I can think of offhand. Sometimes we go for days without bothering to turn ours on. If I could get a reasonably priced high speed internet connection I could get along just fine without a TV set in the house. The only fast connection I can get out here in the boonies is by satellite and the cost is prohibitive for my retirement income.
But even with 56K dialup I spend way more time surfing the web than I do surfing the TV channels. When the weather permits I spend as much or more time hauling, splitting and stacking firewood as I do either watching TV or web surfing. I also spend a good bit of time in winter reloading ammunition for summer shooting on my homemade shooting range. With all that going on, who needs TV anyway?
"People waking up from Coma's after many years. Different things like that."
You mean like...a liberal finally having a coherent thought?
We have Dish and I have never watched Lifetime because I surmised that it was another "woman=victim" channel. I am eagerly awaiting the day when I pay only for the six or eight channels we watch consistently out of the 120 we pay for.
If you have never seen Lifetime's offerings before, you have got to be the only one, for that network runs their stable of flicks over and over and over. Bad enough that, but how many times do you need to have the same story re-done? It runs the gamut from I-divorced-a-jerk to I-am-innocent-though-spending-my-best-years-in-prison to the standard my-best-friend-is-sleeping-with-my-16-year-old-son. Trust me, you haven't lost a thing.
As much as I despise all the cable and satellite companies I have to hand it to Direct, it's the least maddening one of the bunch. The support people have been very good, and the service even better. When we decided to add local channels they sent a man out to install a 2nd dish and a newer model receiver at no cost and no commitment to continue with Direct. We didn't like the new receiver, so when I called support they told me to keep it and buy a new one that we liked and send them the bill up to $100. I found one on Ebay that I liked for $20. I sent the receipt for $20 plus the $12 shipping charge to Direct and they credited my account with the full $100 that they had set as the reimbursement limit.
Bottom line, I got 2 new receivers plus a new dish and 100 feet of cable plus installation plus a $68 credit on my account, and all without ever leaving my house. Compared to the poor service and constant hassle I used to get dealing with the cable company when I lived in town, DirectTV is far better. (although it wouldn't take much for it to be far better than that @#%^&* cable company)
Still with everything I probably only watch a dozen of them regularly.
Funny, growing up with 3 channels (2 1/2 really considering the reception on one of them),I would have given about anything for what I have now yet I still don`t watch many more channels than I started with.
I wish Lifetime would cancel with my cable company next. it is insipid crap.
I can probably learn to beat my wife another way.
I'd like a rebate on the A&E, History/Travel/Biography Channel scam. There seem to be five or so stations in the network and they share the programming on all five. A&E probably does half of the original programming of a DIY or a Comedy Central but they use what they do produce to program five stations. It's outrageous. And to call the History Channel the History Channel is pure hubris.
I know exactly what you mean. They do the same thing with the Premium movie channels if you get them. They just move the same few movies around from one movie channel to the other. You can go without watching them for six months and come back and the same movies are running. I remember years ago when I only had one HBO channel and there was always new movies every month. You could actually look forward to the next month of movies. Now I would not give you a buck a month for five channels. And HBO used to have a full color book every month telling you about all the movies for that month. Things have sure changed. It is always about charging you more for less. That is the scam.
I LOVE Spike. They are even coming up with a BLADE the Vampire Slayer TV show.
Mindless TV violence is my thing...8-)
Wasn't that a movie? I am morally opposed to remakes of movies, to movies being made into TV shows, to video games being made into either . . .
It was actually a trilogy of films.
I don't know though..Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a so so movie, but ended up being a great TV show.
Stargate was a decent movie, but the show is great.
LifeTime has changed there message about it being only pennys.
They have also started a forum for people to express there opinnons.

Now if they can get rid of Here! TV and the other gay, lesbian, fembot channels, I'll be a happy camper.
I'm just glad Ergen isn't sticking it to us customers with that hideous Oprah channel Oxygen.
