COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A loyal and very bright pet came to the rescue for a disabled man on Thursday night.
Gary Rosheisen was making his way from his wheelchair to his bed when he fell, NBC 4 reported.

He was in pain and could not get up on his own, so his cat, Tommy, ran to the phone and dialed 911.
"He had come in and punched the two right buttons on the phone, by miracle, and called help for me," Rosheisen said. "He sensed I needed help."
Rosheisen said he had been training Tommy with the phone a little but never expected he would be able to do what he did. Police responded to the call and said they were amazed at what the pet did.

Translation- "My owner has fallen and can't get up and I don't know how to run the can opener!!!"
great story ping.
coincidence or ID ?
I saw this story and am having a hard time believing it. But if it's true, how amazing!
I have trouble with this story as well.
Good kitty! I love when cats save lives, because the dog people think they can't.
LOL. Cats are people too. And so are dogs. And all animals. I've seen a mother cat express worry and concern when a baby cried in his mother's lap and wouldn't stop. Mother cat put her front feet on the mother's lap and looked at Baby, then at Mother, beseeching her to help her baby stop crying. You could see the maternal concern the cat expressed.
Good Kitty for dialing 911~
The columbus dispatch said the phone had a speakerphone and 1 speed dial button set for 911.
So it is amazing, but not that amazing.
A cat could easily understand that humans talk to that phone thingy and that this man wanted to talk but was hurt.
So the cat went to the phone and pushed buttons and finally pushed the speaker phone button and the speed dial.
a friend had a cat that would fetch a small sponge ball
Big deal. Why didn't Tommy just drive her to the hospital?
I had a cat that used to hit a key on the computer but look toward the speaker before she pushed the key. She know the key is what caused the sound.
My cats go for walks with us. The other day one climbed a tree that has a wind chime on a small branch. He climbed up, held on with 3 paws, reached out to ring the wind chime, and climbed down.
We all play hide and seek with them, taking turns hiding behind trees.
We have one half grown who's pretty big, and she actually chases the deer. She found out that if she runs, the deer get scared, so she does it for fun.
Another one, her brother, loves to play with puddles, he'll walk around in them, batting and making ripples, and playing with reflections. We wonder if he'd swim in a deep one, he's kind of tiger looking.
:-)
"Help, help, my staff has fallen and he is not getting me my dinner. Do something."
The same cat that would fetch the ball generally would ignore the tv. The one exception was the fighter plane sequences from Top Gun he watched religiously.
