Suppose skim milk is pretty worthless for this purpose. I do like buttered rice on the side of my chili -- maybe that's the reason!

Oh, yeah! I've been meaning to take my kids to Texas someday. Sounds like a good excuse for a field trip!

Dominos? Oh, wait, can't be. There was that post yesterday asking us to boycott Domino's and all pizza delivery. Missed the zot. Still haven't used my boots yet!

I may have to try this... but if I do it wrong, am I going to die? Eating a scotch bonnet doesn't sound like a good plan to me!

I make sure my tomatoes do not have sugar in them since hubby can't stand sweet chili. LOL!
My family doesn't like sweet chili either, so I fix it the normal way, then at ketchup to my bowl.
I know, I know, it's like the ULTAMATE 'chili sin', but I like it. When I was a kid, it used to gross my mother out somethin' fierce!

seriously, I do not have common sense in the kitchen.
so when hubby gets home and the kitchen's all smokey, he hollers, "What's for dinner, hon?"
His mother keeps giving me cook books. It's not gonna help!

BTW conditions would be rustic onsite.
IE- bring your camping gear.

Any chili recipe with beans is not a chili recipe.

oooooh, honey, you shouldn't admit that. I'm not even gonna repeat it.
You so bad.
BTW, no sweet turnip greens, no sweet potato salad or slaw, either.

Hmmm.... Let me think. I guess I could give them a survival weekend. The 17 and 13 year olds would probably do okay, and the 9 year old would probably survive, but I'm a little worried about the five year old! Maybe we could make it "bring your child to work week" with Mr. Chant. He could teach them to file, work the fax, find cases in Southern Reporter. Could be really good for them. :-P

If I come to the chili cook-off - can I stay at the compound?
I don't believe in camping.
Or, is there a really nice hotel nearby with 24 hour room service?

It's not that cocoa isn't good in chili. I may certainly try it during one of my more adventurous moments.
Only chocolate fanatic in me says 'BZZZT'! Chocolate belongs in desserts. ;-)

Now all of y'all have made me hungry for chili & I have to put some BEANS (grin) on to soak!

no, hiring a cook would be appropriate, though.
