The absolutely most terrifying horror flick was "The Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price. Based on Richard Matheson's novel "I am Legend" (1954).

Glenn Ford is one of my favorites. The one name I'm expecting to hear about is Charlton Heston. We'll lose one of the Good Guys. Since these things goes in threes, I wonder who will be there with him. Just hope it's none too soon.

First Don Knotts and now Dennis Weaver. I have the whole Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith collections. Raised my kids on these along with Leave It to Beaver.

Has anybody seen the movie Time Changer? Watched it twice this weekend; just about the best Christian movie I have ever seen. I recommend it without reservation.

I think I saw that once, on AMC's "Friday Night Frights" or TCM...Matheson is an often underrated horror/sci-fi writer. BTW, Spielberg's directorial debut was for a segment of the pilot for "Night Gallery" that featured Joan Crawford as a blind woman who pays to have another person's eyes transplanted to her...according to legend, Crawford asked who this "Child" was who was going to be directing her, and when Spielberg met her she told him stories about all the fights she'd had with Betty Davis over the years!

Dennis Weaver may have been a lib, but he was of that generation who knew how to keep his work and his politics seperate. Anyone remember the McCloud episode where he got high on LSD and started hallucinating? Or the one with the guy who thought he was a vampire (with guest star Tom Snyder?)

I love Glenn Ford. Wishing him good health.

I liked Weaver in the cop show but it's been so long since I saw an episode.

I just heard on Fox News that Dennis Weaver has passed away. Anyone else hear it? This is number 3. Daren McGaven, Don Knotts, and now Dennis Weaver.
I suppose Hollywood will try to find some no-talent replacements.

I find it most curious that all three had names that began with the same letter.
I am used to Hollywood celeb dying in groups of 3, which has happened many times, altho I certainly don't know why.
The t names thing is really strange, tho.

I will really miss Dennis Weaver, except for some of his enviro ideas. His unique house that he built with discards surely isn't the first one I have seen. When I was very young in Madison, Wis., the house next door to us was built out of concrete and bottles laid on their sides. It was very well naturally insulated, in a very cold climate. Don't know if it is still there.

I believe you're talking about "The Duel."

No, just Duel.

Amazing it was made for TV. It could have been a thetrical release it was so good. And you see the boots as well as the hands.

george peppard, banacek.""

Now, there was a character. I loved the show because it made you think more about how the crime was done. In addition, George was more than a little bit of a "bad boy". When I worked at Universal Studios where it was filmed, I ran into him many a time. Wish he hadn't died so young.

Old Chester joke. Chester comes running into town with out a stitch of clothing on. Matt asks him what the hell is he doing. Chester say Miss Kitty came up to him and said, Chester, this is something I've always wanted to do and she rips off all her clothes. Then she rips off all Chester's clothes and says, "Go to town, Chester!" And Chester says, "So here I am, Matt."

Glenn Ford! If a man can survive this, he'll be living a long time. ;)

Never heard of Darren McGavin...no one my age (36) seems to have heard of him either. Definitely heard of Knotts and Weaver though.

***Richard Matheson ***

One of my favorite authors years ago!

Remember his "I AM ALONE"
made into the movies "THE LAST MAN ON EARTH" with Vincent Price, and "THE OMEGA MAN" with Charlton Heston. Both movies based on the same story!

**Old Chester joke. *** from about 1960.

Chester had a "viagra" type problem. He whent to doc who told him he could relieve his problem with work, so he told Chester to go shovel out the livery stable.
Miss Kitty comes along and sees his "problem". She asks him " What is the matter?" and he tells and shows her. She jumps up on a bale of hay and says "Put it here, Chester!"
and he says..

(are you ready for this?)

"The whole shovel full, Miss kitty?"

What a sad coincidence. On an Extreme Homes-type show aired just yesterday, the owner of a "green" house perched on a hillside said that the home was previously owned by Dennis Weaver. The house was made out of cans, tires and bottles encased in concrete. Hadn't thought of Weaver in years, and now this...

Oooh! It was more than just that. The truck was as relentless and deliberate as could be; too much so for it to just be something casual like bullying. Serious truck drivers are always in a hurry either going somewhere or returning. I got the sense that there was a whole lot more to the story than we were being told, maybe something that the character Weaver played had forgotten from his past.
