A Cape Coral, Fla., man gathered used condoms from a neighboring yacht club parking lot and "planted" them on sticks in the median of the street.
Robert Payne said he was tired of the "public copulation" happening nightly right outside his window at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press reported Tuesday.
In an e-mail to city officials, Payne wrote: "I wanted to do my part as a concerned law-abiding citizen by removing the beautiful blue rubbers from the parking lot, but I was unsure what to do with them because they represent a biohazard waste product that should be properly disposed of.
"So to help you and your hazardous waste team out, I stuck each of them with a stick and planted them on Driftwood Drive in front of the welcome sign to the Yacht Club. There they hang tonight, flying in the breeze as a proud symbol of our freedom and the great traditions of Cape Coral. Much like our beloved flag."
The city's mayor said while he sympathized with the neighborhood's concerns, he found the protest to be "repulsive" and has asked police to investigate whether Payne violated any city codes with the condom garden.
I always wondered where the rubber plant came from ping..
Always Florida
Ewwww. I sure hope he used gloves to do that. (shudders)
BUT, I get his point. Sad thing is, those doing the deed will in all likelihood feel no shame no matter what they see in his little 'garden'.
Musta been the Firestone parking lot...

If he collected 365 of them, can he call it Good Year Garden?
We must condemn, not condone as commendable, such condom accommodations close to the condominiums of commoners.
I've heard of planting seed, but this is ridiculous!
Good to know that all the good gentleman at the yacht club exhibit their superior breeding and upbringing in such an uplifting way. Come on, guys. If you can afford to be a member, you can afford to get a room. And use the trash can.
What kind of folks are members of the Cape Coral Yacht Club anyway! Do they not have any class?
Bravo to the concerned neighbor.
And a "member in good standing," apparently.
