If this kid just ran into the house and the dog was protecting her puppies, there is great reason in any dog's eyes to do what was done. This was not an unprovoked attack. Anyone who thinks so doesn't know anything about dogs. This is fact. As for your "genes from selection via the "bla bla bla, their genes aren't the problem. Uneducated people having strong dogs is. And then having children? And not teaching them about dogs? And then letting them charge into a house unannounced to see a nursing dog???
