JK Rowling is writing the final Harry Potter book Harry Potter fans have sent JK Rowling reams of paper, after the author complained of a notepad shortage near her home in Edinburgh. Fans, who are anxiously waiting for the seventh and final Harry Potter book, sent Rowling everything from a single sheet of paper to entire notepads.
A paper merchant even delivered a set of notebooks embossed with the author's name.
Rowling says she now has "enough paper to write several book sevens".
Speaking about the paper shortage on her website last month, the author explained that she prefers to use a pen and paper to draft her novels, rather than a computer.
She admitted this made her feel like "something out of the 18th Century".
Weighty problem
Rowling has also attacked critics who accused her of being prejudiced against overweight people.
Last month, the author said she feared her daughters would grow up to be "empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones" because of the media's obsession with weight.
She was accused of hypocrisy by Simon Walters in the Mail On Sunday, who said overweight characters in her novels, such as Harry Potter's cousin, Dudley Dursley, are portrayed as figures of fun.
Rowling defended her books on her personal website, saying: "Several of my most important, admirable and lovable characters... are on the plumper side".
"'Overweight' in no way equates to 'bad' in my fictional world," she added.
"I have a billion dollars, but I can't seem to find any paper."

look for the eBay listing soon.
Good, maybe she'll have to write several more HP books to use up the paper.
Cannot put words to paper to adequately describe the J.K.Rowling scenario...
retrokitten had the Potter ping list.
*Pingus Maxima*
Oh, how silly! The Dursleys are cartoon characters, and the fact that Dudley and his father are fat is meaningless.
I must say that I think one of the great weaknesses of Rowling's writing is that she mixes these one-dimensional, predictable, no-known-motivation characters with real and complex ones. It makes parts of the books really drag, while you wait for a human being (Harry Potter, Severus Snape, etc.) to show up among the cutout figures.
I don't know; I love all the books and probably should be added to the ping list (Retrokitten, you there?).
I've read all of them, very slowly, to my oldest son out loud at night. Takes us months to go through them, and we relish every bit. I think at the end of the last one, I grabbed it and finished the last 50 pages on my own, and then gave it back to him. :)
The movies are fun, even if the actors are growing twice as fast as the characters (seeing that there is a 2 year rotation of movies).
One of the guys in Malfoy's "gang" is fat, I think, too, and is portrayed as a clumsy dolt.
Yes, that was obvious (and funny) in the most recent movie. The young man who plays Neville Longbottom is very tall, now!
POTTER PING!
LOL! Thanks, retrokitten!
Sorry! I was offline yesterday.
Wow! I haven't seen you in forever and a day! How the heck are ya?

Hiya, retrokitten! I am fine. How the heck are you?
I have a day off, which will be spent talking to continuing ed folks and then off to the dentist.
You may have read that we have had a drop or two of rain. We are fine but keep your fingers crossed for families that live in low lying areas.
Ewww...good luck. I had to do that on Friday. I loathe the dentist. Stay dry! :-D
:-) I have a very nice dentist and even when something has to be done, it never hurts.
LOL I will paddle my car along the highway. I'll wave from soggy NE.
