Two found dead in tub with barbecue
King 5 TV (Seattle) ^ | 23 May 2006 | Jim Foreman

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – There were still more questions than answers after police found two bodies Monday inside the bathroom of a Federal Way apartment.

Federal Way police were sent to the apartment on 3rd Place SW near S 320th St. after someone called to have officers check on the well-being of the people who live there. It was not immediately clear why the caller was concerned.

The man and woman, both in their early 30s, were found in a small narrow bathroom. A barbecue that had once been lit was in the bathtub.

Police revealed few clues or answers and did not say why the barbecue was in the bathtub and whether this was a tragic accident or something more sinister.

Other residents say the units have smoke detectors but no carbon monoxide alarms. Neighbors weren’t sure what to make of it.

“You really don't think they'd have it in the house. That is really suspicious,” said Carolyn Hendrickson, neighbor. “And then they had the evidence markers out it. It is really suspicious."

Little was known about the victims. Authorities have not released the names or relationships of the people found dead.

The case remains under investigation.

If there was a grill in the bathtub, they should say so. Barbecue is a pork sandwich.

I'll bet the police are hiding something!

I'm guessing they saw a suicide by toaster in the bathtub on some old TV show, but their toaster was busted so they tried the BBQ...

Suicide would be my guess. Putting the BBQ in the tub may have been a way to prevent a fire after their demise. I'm sure the neighbors appreciate the courtesy.

A friend owns a painting company in Waukegan, Illinois. he was called in to paint a bathroom in an apartment. The tenants used the tub as a grill by lining it with foil and dumping coals in it. I guess this is more common than we thought.

Crappy reporting (no pun intended). No mention of the weather, cold or warm, no mention of what else was found in the room. No mention of how the bodies arranged.

All things you'd ask about to determine if this was suicide, an accident due to improvising heat or an accident from using a grill indoors.

The tenants used the tub as a grill by lining it with foil and dumping coals in it.

The tenants were from Latin America, perhaps? The construction workers in Argentina barbecued in their wheelbarrows on lunch break.

The grill was in the bath tub so they could use the shower to put it out quickly!

They were in the bathroom trying to keep warm w/ the BBQ and died from toxic fumes!

Moral of the Story: High fuel prices lead to the death of some po' folk!

When they outlaw barbeque grills, only outlaws will have barbeque grills.

Barbeque grills don't kill people, Chuck Norris kills people.

They can have my barbeque grill when they pry my cold dead fingers off the propane tank.

Seattle news story reminds of this Seattle story (can't resist):

A businessman from the sunny Southwestern United States has been in Seattle for 10 days of continuous rain. He exits his hotel on morning of day 11 to, of course, more rain. As he is standing under the front hotel entrance canopy, a small boy smartly outfitted in slicker with hood, rubber boots, etc, is walking by.

He stops the youngster, and asks him, "Young fellow, does the sun ever shine here?"

To which the boy replies, "How should I know, I'm only nine years old!"

Rare but not so strange.

Back in the early 80's I was in the belly of the beast with a bad christal meth habit. I chose the same method. Thank God help arrived when it did.

an accident due to improvising heat or an accident from using a grill indoors.

This is a fairly common cause of death of Hispanics in Southern California (improvised, cheap heating). I'm sure it's not much different up in Starbucks country.
