Next time you're tempted to ascribe irrationality or intolerance just to the crew on the left side of the aisle, consider this example.

Had a very interesting experience last week, on a site which claims "If you have something to say -- concurring or dissenting -- chime in; constructive conflict is how the Party grows". I believed them; I wrote dozens of comments and a couple of diaries doing just that. But when I disagreed on the President's amesty plan for immigrants, I was banned from Redstate.com just last week, for - get this - using the word 'occupation'. \
That's it. No swearing, defaming, or violation of any of their other posting rules. I merely used the word 'occupation' in a diary where I referenced the Heritage study (see http://bigbadjohn.redstate.com/story/2006/5/16/211535/488). That was enough to have me kicked off the site, without the courtesy warning which their own posting rules mandate (see http://www.redstate.com/story/2006/1/1/104656/0274).
I figured, hey, an overreaction, this is easily set straight. I sent them a note asking for an explanation - so far, just silence. Following my post, they subsequently tossed a guy who was clearly a staunch Republican, but had problems with the President's policy on Iraq and on immigration. He used the word 'unprovoked' to describe the Iraq war, and was also immediately banned.
Interestingly, the Redstate 'editor' who banned both me and the other contributor wrote impassioned defenses of Ben Domenech, long after it was obvious to any fair-minded person that he'd stolen every word he was accused of lifting.
I guess the life lesson here is, on Redstate.com - plagarism - no big deal; word choice - watch your step!

Since you posted an unwanted and pointless vanity on your very first day, you should know that clueless newbies generally list their trivial drivel under "Breaking News". Hope this helps.

a. It is not an "occupation."
b. it was not "unprovoked."
c. don't try to BS us here.
