Howdy, I happen to be up and online too (well that's redundant, whenever I'm up, I'm also online!).

It's 5:20 am. So far the storm is a no-show and all is quiet. But when there is a typhoon coming or nearby, the clouds follow this slightly unnatural looking circular pattern. They just drift around the area faster than normal and in an arc. They're doing that now.

Of course there really is a big typhoon, as shown on the radar, but I guess it might miss us here.

Glad to hear you are safe. ;)

No more rain for us today, but no sunshine either, very high humidity.

I'm considering getting this nifty little hand held for when I go to Thailand. Scroll down a little on that page and you can see the portable handheld sitting on a normal sized keyboard, which also folds up as small as the handheld.

It's small, but it supports wireless connections, and connecting through a computer with USB, and has 100mg of space, so I can do lots of other things with it like research and bidness stuff too.

And best of all I can drop it in an across-the-shoulder side bag and cruise around. The last time I was in Thailand many of the numerous sidewalk cafes were getting wi-fi set up (you know, wireless connection to the Internet, everything just "works" on its own!). Which is not a big deal really, because all this stuff comes in a box from Intel!

So that way I could just sit at a table, pull out my little computer, and surf all over freerepublic without worrying too much about people around me. Granted someone could still hang out behind me, but it's less likely, and let's face it, I'm not doing anything top secret anyway!

Here's a better image of the unit I'm interested in. And best of all I can take it with me wherever I go. Plus it's relatively cheap for all that functionality, just about $300.00. A year and a half ago I bought a desktop in Thailand for about the same, but left it behind thinking I'd gotten enough use out of it, plus I would earn that much in the first week in Taiwan. True enough, but these days I'm getting smarter, why earn the same money twice? If you keep it the first time, you can rest the second time!

So what do you think of this little Palm Pilot doohickey? Ever use one before?

Way cool! So light and easy to carry. Go for it the price is right. ;)

No, I have not used a hand held computer.

I have a lap top that I haul around with me. Also, I have a satellite card.

I must admit the computer gets a tad heavy for me.

Storm Not Arriving

A storm is on the way
the clouds portend the impact
swirling in gray foreshadowing
shining rays of sun change the tempo
pushed apart and confounded
the dark clouds forget their story
no storm, only a river of golden sun
pours in

I have to write a poem
I don't know where to begin

what should my topic be
the Knights, the Gal,
the Glen...

My muse is sulking once again
her dissatisfaction I can't begin
to ponder her fickle actions
she's jerking me around again!

And one super cool thing about the PalmPilot is some of the software that's available, namely e-books they have on these dinky little cards that fit into the handheld.

Here's a short list of some of the books they offer. The Classics section is totally awesome. And they're cheap! Like five bucks. Great way to add some truly enjoyable classic works to my reading list for the next few months. Like 8 major works of Charles Dickens on one card, complete stories of Sherlock Holmes (just for fun), and the complete dialogues of Plato. What a wealth to be carrying around in one's pocket on dinky little cards!

Plus they have all other classics, like Emily Bronte, etc. etc. etc. Looks cool, hope I can buy them in Thailand.

Yes I'm pumped. After a year and a half here (Taiwan's kind of dirty and ugly, everything's concrete, and they often don't even bother to cut the internal support steel on the sides of the buildings, so it juts out from the concrete and drains ugly rust stains down the sides of collections of concrete slags which are meant to pass for cities, nice imagery, huh?! ;-) )

So leaving so suddenly seems miraculous. I was hoping they would close the business today for the typhoon, but now it's even sunnier and clearer, so I guess it zoomed right by. Well, 7:00am, so I guess I'll make some breakfast, maybe a big omelet. I've been eating these instant cup-o-oats things, only 70 calories, then I eat more at lunch. Good way to lose weight! But now I think I'll have a big omelet or something.

Bon apetit, and see you later!

Oh P.S., with the additional stories of progress in Iraq making the rounds, that report summary thread I set up now has 745 views! Up from a previous high of 669. I love seeing the news spread around, uncontrolled by the biased media. Isn't that great?! :-)

Oh, great news on the number of views climbing. ;)

Enjoy your breakfast and your day.

All hell has broken loose in Gaza! I suspect you will catch up on the news.

See you later.

Make sure you get at least $300.00 for the cat, then you can get the top-of-the-line T/X model!
