My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I just returned home myself, Friday night, spent the week with a daughter, had to move out for a new bathroom to be installed.
I had a good time while I was there. One granddaughter, graduated.

You mean for decor??
Well, I am going to make the one curtain from deep, rich, rust velvet with black lace over the velvet. I have silver knobs for the shower rod. I will get other silver accents pieces. Towel bars, paper holder, etc.
For the walls, I think I am going to use a light tone of rust, very light. Then over that I will put stencil art work. I have a huge template for a Grecian Urn which I will put close to the floor. The floor is a light background tile.
I may have to experiment with the wall color, cause it's dark in there and the light rust may be too, dark.
I will also be using a lot of wicker baskets for holding things.

Well the rust sounds like fun.I have to work with yellow and cream tiles that are down on the floor but we are getting new shower and basin and toilet. He wants the basin like the new bowl effect. Our back bathroom is very small but I like the basket idea too.

Baskets are great for odds and ends.
The carpenter built a closet, something I did not have before. This will hold a multitude of stuff and out of sight.
I got all new fixtures for the bathroom, new shower, toilet, and pedestal washbowl.
Cream is a good color to work with, anything goes with it. Can you paint over the existing tiles??
If you could paint them a cream color, you could use Maroon as a second color.
Third color optional I would guess.

Wings
The wings beat down like canopies, as tonnage goes to flight,
And we our grips secure again, prepared to show our might.
The castle keep looks lovely in the slanting morning light,
As brisk clean air goes whistling by, and dragons join to fight.
The struggle, not in earnest, but meaningful the same,
Gives each a chance to stay in form, and play a warlike game.
There was a time when dragons died, and men were slain for years,
But Peace will reign now, as we find, our strength allays our fears.
They challenge us -- we meet the call, and then the threat is passed,
No one now seeks to plunder, for fortunes once amassed.
Defenses stand at ready, lest temptation once more rise,
And fill the hearts of men for war, with dragons in the skies.
Each keeps to his own keep these days, though trade carts slowly rumble,
And festivals and merriment keeps thirsty blades at humble.
Our Peace has been secured for us. We have no fear of war,
Security is commonplace, when dragons guard the door.

Hi Bob!
Nope, don't mind a bit especially cause it's with a wonderful poem!
Well done and thank you.
Bob, I was reading about the anatomy of dragons, they have a t like structure across their shoulders with hinge like joints which enables them to fly.

Most dragons are shown with batlike wings. The articulation of such is not a vexing problem.
The questioning comes about because this then describes a beast with six limbs. No other creature on Earth is thus equipped, and many find the concept unsettling.
It isn't so strange if you accept that you could be talking about another planet, but then again, it could be part of the magical charm of dragons!

"I am still a believer that dragons lived and walked with man." I'm developing a story in which dragons and men are part of a common culture, each benefitting from the other.

Only a couple of thousand words so far. I'm still putting plot elements together.
Among other things, I don't want the dragons to be just windowdressing.

It's my first alien (well, second, actually) species. I have to develop a history, philosophy, and culture for the dragons.
Then I have to mix this with the presence and influence of man. It's a bit of work, but it's fun.

Yupper it's that cool. Last night into the 40s. We have had consistent rain for about two weeks. Oh, there were 2 days of dry and sunshine.
I did not have my a/c put in until the last week of May, I used it for about one week. Then the temps were in the high 80s. All down hill since then.

Thinking over Coffee
Oft of an evening I sit and ponder birth,
and its opposite, for both bookend life.
We see them as terminus, as if alone,
in between is everything from love to strife.
Yet, they are but mile markers along the way.
We existed as parts of others before birth,
and through memory in others heart and mind.
As such, we are anything but alone,
and by that last mile marker the truth you find.
