Judge Sentences Cat to Life Indoors for Avon-Lady Ambush

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A state judge spared the life of alleged neighbor-assaulter Lewis the cat on Tuesday, but ordered that he remain inside his owner's Fairfield home at all times.

"There are no exceptions. None," said Judge Patrick Carroll, who also granted accelerated rehabilitation to Lewis' owner, Ruth Cisero. That means her record will be expunged if she successfully completes two years of probation.

Cisero had faced a charge of reckless endangerment because neighbors complained that the cat's long claws and stealth have allowed it to attack at least a half-dozen people and ambush the Avon lady as she was getting out of her car.

A hardy Texas Mockingbird could help Lewis mend his ways.

I have seen them make cats wish they had never set foot outside.

We had a cat whose sport was attacking passing dogs. His favorite targets were the Doberman's next door. Most dog owners thought it was a hoot. One prissy Shar-pei owner took offense to our cat's behavior, and we had to banish the cat to the house during the early evening dog-walking hours.

Well trained and behaved dogs can be abused, sure.
Picture the dogs as Americans. Imagine the cats are muslims. When push comes to shove it is kitty lunch time...

I own one of each and hope Scooby never reaches the end of his rope. Forty pounds vs 12; No contest.

Oh, TG Lewis got clemency. I have been following this riveting case on Greta Von Susteren's show.

It would have been a CAT-astrophe if jolly old Lewis had had to pay with his life.

Apparently, I amnot the only one who finds the Avon Lady to be a trifle annoying!

A dog needs to outweigh a cat by a factor of ten, at least, to make it an even fight. If the cat is a Bengal, make that twenty.

The Best Friends Animal Society of Kanab, Utah, had also offered to take Lewis free of charge...and has specialists who know how to handle cats with behavior problems [snip] ...Lewis would be no threat to the public in Utah because the sanctuary's closest neighbor is Denny's Wigwam, a curio shop about four miles away....The owner of the shop, Victor Sandonato, said he has already been warned that Lewis might be moving to his neighborhood.

"I live with a cat just like Lewis, and I live with danger every time I go home at night," he said, adding, "I'm from South Jersey, so I don't take any crap from a cat."

LOL! So true.

This is just another example of an arrogant cat owner who thinks their beast has a RIGHT to be outdoors and roam wherever they like.

"A hardy Texas Mockingbird could help Lewis mend his ways."

When I lived in Friendswood, some mockingbirds nested in one of the trees in our backyard. We had an Afghan hound back then. The yard was fenced, so we let her out back by herself to do her business. The mockingirds would wait until the poor dog was in mid-squat, and then dive-bomb her fantail.

First dog I ever owned that suffered from constipation. We finally took to going out with her to provide her an escort against enemy bombers, before she would go. Fortunately, the mockingbirds nested elsewhere the next year.

I believe cats should be kept indoors, but as for causing public nuisances, nothing comes close to having a howling mutt next door. You also don't have to worry about having a cat mutilate your kid, either.
